Yes, whey protein will affect your body in many positive ways. Whey is know to slim and tone as well as add strength. However, I recommend a LOW CARB WHEY. Like BSN Products Syntha Six Protein or anthoer product called ONwhey.

I am in the same position. I am turning 26 next month 5'7" and was 220# last month. I recently got a trainer at my local gym. The trainer gave me a meal plan for 6 meals daily where I can replace 3 with whey protein shakes. It seems to be working but she has me doing 5 min cardio then targeted weight training (Back/Bi, Chest/Tri, Legs, Abs) and finish off with 15-30 min cardio (15 if worked on legs). I have lost 10# in 3 weeks. I know that doesn't sound like a lot but the average is 1-2#/week. I asked the trainer if it was better to lose weight b4 I started with the shakes but she said that the protein will help repair the torn muscles from the weight training and keep the metabolism up.
I suggest a trainer to everyone now b/c of these questions. She has been a god sent and I am expecting to reach my 180 goal with her help and guidance.
To wrap it up I would suggest that you talk to a trainer at your gym and start a weight training program (400 calories/hr for cardio... 3 times that for weight training and the benefits do not stop when you leave the gym b/c muscle burns calories ALL the time)

I wish us both luck!!

blended proteins are optimum for weight loss and weight management while whey protein fractions are superior for post workout supplementation.

blended proteins contain egg protein and milk proteins making for a more slower release of amino acids into the portal bloodstream with a very effective anti-catabolic effect.

Protein usually helps you build muscle, and because muscle weighs more than fat...you'll probably gain more weight ..my suggestion...if you feel you need to have it, reduce the amount..increase cardio.
