You're not too old to do any of those things. If you want to become talented in those fields, you should go to a school that specializes in those things. You have to learn a trade before you specialize in it, right? It's just like in college when you major in something. You can't become really good at it until you start training---whether it be in modeling, singing, or acting. Go for it. If you don't go for it now, you may be in store for a lot of REGRET later.
My dream is to be an actor. Throughout elementary school, high school, and college I constantly wished I could be in movies and become famous. Did I do anything about it during those years? No. Do I regret it? Yes. But...after I graduated from college, I finally started studying acting, and I'm so glad I did. I'm not as bad as I thought I would be, and I'm really progressing.
So, make a decision on whether you really want to do all this stuff, and then act on your decision. Set goals for yourself---long term and short term. My goal is to move to LA next year. What's your goal?

You are never too old to learn new things and do the things you love. Let me put it to you this way, you can either sit back and do nothing and be in the same situation in 10 years, or you can take control of your life a do the things you love. What's the worse that can happen? Meet interesting people, be healthier, learn to act, even if you don't become famous. As far as a record company laughing in you face, I can tell you right now, that will not happen. I know from experience. No I don't sing, but my husband and I are partners with a record label and right now we are promoting someone that has a terrific voice and she is in her 30's.
Follow your dreams and don't worry about what other people might think or say. Its your life not theirs.
Good luck -
T.

Well I wouldn't just give up hope, I mean some people don't really get the recognition they really want until later on. It's easy to look at some of the majority with those types of careers who are famous, and yes they are usually young. Maybe an example such as Nelly Furtado, she's been at it for a while...she has kids, obviously older than 24. I'm not sure if that's probably the best example, but just something to consider. If you're dedicated and know how to present yourself--also it's about who you know through social connections that can help you get to the top. Personally, I don't think 24 is too old...but if you really want to get recognized for your talents, you need to start now.

Do what you need to do. Don't ever lose motivation because someone who thinks they cant thins you cant. I am 21 with two children, bills, home and a full time job, who is pursuing an education. I feel so old sometimes, like life is so limited, but then I remember I have many hours, many days, months and years to achieve the goals I have. A good tip is to write them down and to verbalize and visualize them everyday. A Harvard study done a few years back showed significant correlation between writing/verbalizing/visualizing goals and accomplishment as opposed to not. Just say you are going to lose weight, visualize yourself without that weight, and put 100% of yourself into everything you do and you will get to where you want to be.

By the time you do the things to prepare for a career as an entertainer you will probably be considered too old. You should have started at an earlier age. Even if you were ready for it. the competition is staggering!
You should probably seek another less strenuos occupation.
If you are SERIOUS about it on the other hand, go for it. Just don`t give up your day gig until you`ve got enough money to do so.

You won't know what you can succeed at if you never try. 24 is not old. I'm 22 about to be 23 in November, but I don't feel old. Focus on what you want, not what you have to do. The harder you work, the faster you will succeed. If you need more motivation, i suggest you listen to Tony Robbin' Get the Edge, or read the book 7 Habits of Highly effective People. It's great!

In any other industry outside of entertainment, 24 is just the beginning. You feel old because it sounds like you're trying to break into the most superficial working industry on the planet which emphasizes youth or "youth appeal." If you applied at the firm I work at, you'd be a baby and feel young.

Unless you have extraordinary talent or good connections - you're likelihood of success is very limited. You have younger talent that exceeds your abilities that will give those companies a longer, and likely cheaper deal. At 24 with no apparent industry contacts or raw talent, I'd pursue them as a hobby - but you really need to get something that will put bread on the table.

well i dont know much about this stuff
but i do know that 24 is not an old age.
i think that if you took singing lessons like you said and tried to get a record deal they might just give you one, but as for modeling some people are picky about there models.
