Start with your primary care physician. There can be a lot of reasons for your lapse of short term memory. One possible reason could be fugue, or brief seizures, in which function proceeds without impairment, but memory stops prior to the seizure and resumes after. Besides, you will need a referral from a PCP to satisfy your insurance carrier.

If you have not been diagnosed yet, I would go to your general practitioner and let him/her make the call as to the kind of specialist you need. My guess is that they will want to rule out physical problems first before moving on to a mental health care provider

See your regular doctor who will either figure it out or tell what type of doc to see. Sorry to say but there are no pills to effectively improve memory.

Depending on your age and other factors you would probably be seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist depending on the additional symptoms involved. If you think there are no other symptoms, see your primary care physician first and allow him/her to refer you to whomever he/she believes will be of most help to you.

I'd tell ya, but I can't remember. Kidding. The best thing you can do is first go to your MD. He will either figure it out or suggest the next step.

You used to know but you forgot, right??

They're both doctors, but it sounds more like neurologist to me. I'm sure you could ask if you phone.
