It will reduce the amount of shrapnel that could injure or kill others. The explosion will be the same, but fewer people will be injured.

That is one of the most common means of getting the Medal of Honor for an enlisted man. It definitely minimizes the impact of the explosion on the other people in the area and is credited with saving other personnel which is why it is a means of be nominated for the MOH. It is always, to the best of my knowledge, been given posthumously in those cases. This goes back to WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam and I think either already awarded or been recommended in Iraq. I know of two cases in Vietnam where the grenade didn't go off and the Marine in one and soldier in the other got a Silver Star for it; guts are the same but for some reason no MOH for it not going off....maybe if they had been officers....

It's not the body that does it. It's the massive size and density of the guy's balls that reduces the explosion.

But seriously, yes it does. And if you search for people who received the Medal of Honor, you would see that a lot of them got it this way. Even if the grenade was a dud and didn't explode some of them were still awarded this.

Yes, this does actually reduce the explosion's effects. The force of the explosion becomes grteater as it moves out from the center. By jumping on it, a soldier will be hurt but will acually reduce the damage that would be done.

There are several war soldiers who did that. Yes it reduces the impact of the explosion, but it kills the one who lands on it. All who have done that to save their buddies deserve the Medial of Honor.

There was a story of an American soldier in Iraq who did that. He put his helmet over the grenade and put his body over the helmet. He died, but saved two comrades. That's beyond brave. When you're doing that you gotta know that you're gonna get seriously injured or killed.

Your body will absorb a large portion of the energy released from the blast. The chances of you surviving to collect that medal would be about zero.

you will most definitely die!!! but when you are in the battlefield, you don't do it for the country or yourself, You DO IT for the BUDDIES next to you.

If you have medal of honor, they will name a baby after you.

Yes, sadly the soldier who does this will receive the full blow or most of it when it explodes. God bless him for serving.
