What kind of object?? I mean if it was a weapon the criminal used to kill someone or to torture, than yeah... I think a bit of bad energy my come from it. If it was something that had nothing to do with the criminal's crimes, I think you will be in the clear.

The object did not commit the crime, the criminal did. Possessing the object will not hurt you or haunt you.

Now, if you choose to dwell on how the object was used and all of its consequences, and start giving this a lot of serious concentration, then having the object could be the cause of some serious mental malady that could hurt you.

You must determine , why was this object given to me, and of what value is it to me. If you put it away in a closet or drawer and forget about it, no harm is done. If you hang it on the wall and show it to your friends, then you have some pride in having the item. This pride could cause a problem, as you mentally deal with its use and the consequences of its use.
