There is nothing wrong with having a drink every once in a while as long as your not going out and getting trashed.

Take it from someone who is a bartender. Alcohol can be a wonderful thing, and a nasty thing, depending on how you use it. If you have never tasted it before, chances are you aren't going to like wine or beer all that much at first. There have been studies, though, linking limited consumption of red wine to improvement in heart health. That would be about one glass of wine a night. Alcohol can help you relax and unwind. Depending on how much you consume, it can even make you get a little goofy. But, if you have any issues with depression, or if you have an addictive personality, I would try to stay away from alcohol. Not to mention, alcohol is expensive (and calorie filled)! If you go out to eat, and you and your partner have two drinks a piece, your bill will add up quickly! If I were you I would give it a whirl, and if you decide to like it, save it for special occasions such as romantic evenings, or celebrations (like champagne at weddings). Just make sure you have a designated driver if you happen to over consume (hey it happens). And if you don't like it, well hey! Just order a juice with some club soda and a little umbrella with fruit so you don't feel totally left out :)

I was always anti drinking, i didn't start until iw as 19. Only a beer here and there, once i hit 20 i started going hard. Only took me 2 years before my blood tests showed signs. Nothing too horrible, still in the repairable range of things.....still technically not good.
Best grades though during the peak of my drunkeness.
Part of me says i wish i never tried it, other part says i'm glad i did it now while still in college rather than being curious about it when i'm 30.
I got some issues with it though. If there is a beer in my fridge i'll drink it....does'nt matter if i need to do HW (although i'm a good drunk mathematician) or something else. What works out is i have to force myself actually go buy it. I pretty much need a beer in me in order to go buy beer.
I'd just say know yourself.

You are an adult and you are 3 years older than the age restriction. So unless you have a family history of alcoholism, don't do it in moderation, or drive than you shouldn't.

what do you think? i don't think it's wrong.
would it be wrong to have sex for the first time if you hadn't had it before at the age of 25? (and not because of religous reasons)
i think that if you felt it was wrong you probably wouldn't be curious.. and i think that if you drink in safe measures you might enjoy it. also, if you don't enjoy it you don't have to have it again either. goodluck on making a decision

Those people are correct.
I have seen too many people whose lives were ruined by alcohol. (Broken families, alcohol dependence, prison time, ruined bodies._ None of them ever intended on becoming alcoholics, it only started with one or two drinks. This may not happen to you. But why take the chance?

At 24 you should be mature enough to make your own decision on the subject.
Just make sure it's an informed decision, & that you separate the facts from the myths.

You are old enough to drink -- it's not illegal -- just do not get behind the wheel -- I drink -- I'm 49 and have never ever driven drunk in my life. Just be careful --- with whom you ride with too.

Only you can make that choice because it's a personal one for each individual. Don't let anyone sway you in either way.
