I find it amusing that actions are considered worthless and just sitting on the floor reading a bible and saying 'I believe in you Jesus' gives Christians a special entry into 'heaven' over anyone else.

I guess it's ok to not to strive to be a decent human being. You can cheat, be racist, selfish and know that it's ok because Jesus saved you.

And then they wonder why people consider them stupid!

I was eight years old in the year 1946. It was on a Saturday and me and a friend of mine were paddling around in my kayak pushing a small wooden boat my dad made me for my birthday. We both reached over the same side to retrieve it as it was drifting away and it ( the kayak ) turned over. I didn't know how to swim so I sank to the bottom of the lake. I remembered that my grandmother once told me that if I ever found myself in trouble to call out for Jesus to save me. So I did just that.

Well neither Zeus, Thor, Muhammad the pope nor Joseph Smith came to my rescue.

It was Jesus Himself that came to me down on the bottom of that lake and saved me, in more ways than one.

I might add, if you call being scared out of your mind that you are going to drown, a state of mental illness, then I guess you would say so. However, as far as I was concerned, I was just grateful Jesus saved me. So I got baptized, confessed my sins and saved all in one shot by Jesus Himself. I tried to tell my atheist mom and dad what happened down there and all they said was “Yeah, all drowning people have their lives flash before them.” I guess it all depends on how you look at it my friend. As I said... I was just a very thankful little boy. Even to this very day I am still thankful... Thank You Lord Jesus!

Interesting question. As a Christian let me enlighten you and everyone else who is seeking for answers. Being "Saved" is a term often used by Christians that basically symbolizes what happens in your life as a result of becoming a Christian. When you become a Christian, you acknowledge that you are not perfect,( I mean, who is) and you are accepting the fact that two thousand years ago the son of God died (being perfect without sin) to take our punishment for our sin. And knowing this and accepting the fact that without Christ's sacrifice we would not get to go to Heaven after we die; therefore, being "saved" from eternal damnation in the fiery pit we call Hell. You could also see it as being "saved" or "released" from the bondage that sin can have over your life and your "after-life". Without being cleansed of our sin, being saved, then God only sees our sinful human nature, but after being saved, He sees only the purity and holiness that His son, Jesus Christ, possessed when he was crucified.

I hope this helped to answer your question. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to contact me.

It's a delusion, so I suppose it's also a sickness of mind. And what does it say about their love of life if they feel they need saved in order to truly enjoy it? It's Jesus in spandex and a cape...
