I have a 1 year old cat who lives inside/outside. My daughter was playing with him and he put his claws in her. She dropped him and he hit our outside table. He limped that day and was better the next day(with a little limp). But now, he doesn't come down the stairs fast and occasionally, I see a tiny hobble. He still cleans himself, purrs when I scratch/pet him, and plays on his scratching post. Also, when other people hold him, he growls. I checked his arm and when I try to go in depth of feeling it, he reaches around and nips at me. Should I take my cat to the vet(it is expensive like $30-$50)? Or should I just give it time? Thanks for your help!

I have a cat that is a year old and I recently got him and his brother declawed, a week later I guess he still was not use to the idea that he had no claws so he jumped up at his cat house and because he had no nails there was nothing to grasp and he fell on his back across a part of the beam from the cat post, he ran limping and then laid down. It has been over a week since this happened and although he eats still he is also very cautious going up and down stairs, he does not run anymore, he will jump on my bed but he must be in some sort of pain, I am bringing him to the vet tomorrow and I am sure it is going to cost me a pretty dollar cause guaranteed they are going to have to do an xray, but I have spent money on getting this cat fixed and declawed and he is only a year old so I will put the money out to make sure he is ok, maybe you should do the same thing.

Our cat was hit by a car and we only knew something was wrong like your cat but ours back leg hip was fractured. He was lightly hit thank God, but they gave him a pain medicine because he started to not want to eat. Other than thay they said keep him indoors for a month without letting him be active, Climbing, Jupping on to things, Running and so on. I would do the same for your cat, look for no eating and any further signs of pain means just take the cat in. I would wait and watch the cat indoors for a few days then go. If you wait it could get worse and cost more and that is not a fun option. Also an organ could have been hurt so that is something else to think of. Check to see if it's potty is okay. I would call around to see if there was a better priced vet in the area, sometimes the price difference is shocking.

Call a vet you trust (or even a couple vets if you don't have a regular one) and explain the situation. Listen to what they think is best. They went to school for 8 years, so they should know.

Please do take him to your vet. Maybe it's a broken bone- or maybe a soft tissue injury. But it's obvious that he is in pain if he tries to nip you when you attempt to explore it. The pain could be caused by a secondary infection at the site of the injury. You just never know in these kinds of cases. Giving it time could mean giving it time to become worse. Better safe than sorry.

take it to the vet . the poor thing sounds like it's hurt a bone or something.. if anything is broken and you do nothing. it will heal crooked and the cat may be in pain for the rest of it's
life..

I would get him checked by a vet. I understand it can be expensive but if you let it go and it develops into something worse than it is now you are really going to have to pay.

well, if your cat is a family member, why wouldn't you take it to the vet? maybe it could use some pain med? maybe it has a hairline fracture? maybe it's in pain? (well, it seems to be from what you said).

if it was your child, would you ignore it?

$30 - $50 is only money... i love my animals. they are more important than money... everyone is different, i guess.

Doesn't take a vet to realize that the cat has probably fractured his leg. Take it to the vet.

Expensive like $30? That's funny. Try $300, if little is wrong. Cheaper to get a new cat.
