I had a few bug bites on my right hand some time ago. I stupidly scratched at it a bit....weeks later after letting it heal....it itches and the skin look very pruney...like it's not fully healed, although the scaby parts have falled off (on it's own accord).

-- Will it stop itching soon and will the skin always look so pruney?

--I've never had a bite that left my skin 'damaged' for such a period of time...I'm guess it might be more than a mosquito like the other ones...you think?....I live in the bay area....so I'm trying to figure out what kind of spider could leave such a complicated wound.

It doesn't sound exactly like a Recluse, but could be.
A sting by a recluse will spread and turn from reddish to black. It spreads and gets worse unless treated with antibiotics.

Will not completely heal on it's own.

Strange...I have the exact same or at least very similar situation. It's been that way for about 5 months for me. The one I got 5 months ago healed but I keep getting new ones. In other words, there's a chance it's not a bug bite. I've been going to the dermatologist and they told me it was stress, which I believe but I have been under a lot over the past few months. How about you? Mine started out as little zit like bumps. I would get about 10 or 15 concentrated in one area (like my forearm). They would heal in about 2 months, leaving a scar) but new colonies would form. I'm seeing a doctor and the steriod cream they gave me works wonders. I put the cream on a patch and sleep with it overnight. After 4 days it got a lot better. I'm also taking anti-itch medicine. Some advice: Don't pick off the scab or squeeze out the puss. It'll either spread or just get worse. All the best

It doesn't sound like mosquito bite. unless you are allergic to mosquito's?
If something "bit" you, tho more accurate would be injected you, your body is reacting to it. If it still itches, and isn't normal, you may want to have it looked at, or call the doctor.

venom injected into our skin from spiders is meant to kill their prey, but for us, hopefully just causes discomfort until our system flushes it out. Having it in an extremity means your circulation is not as heavy as a main part of the body and its may sit in the area for a longer period of time. Heat enhances circulation, as does massaging the area. That worked well for me in the case of a bee sting in the toe area.

Itching usually means your body it trying to heal. Check sources for spider or bug bites in your area. Doctors may not know insects, but sometimes you need antibiotics to fight the infection from a bug.

It may not have been a mosquito that bit you. Your scratching may have also caused an infection. Try a topical ointment such as A-D or neosporin. If healing does not begin or if the area affected does not begin to look better after a couple of days, see a doctor.
