WOW!! This will be really strange since this is already a famous #(Dale Jarret) I am a big JR. fan but I would have rather seen him in either the 08 or the 83 or 81. I really don't like this choice. What do you think?

If he wanted to start a new identity with his upcoming new team-- he should have came up with a completely new number--The one mentioned a very used numbers such as #81 it has been used by Lake Speed and Kenny Wallace, and others. The #88 has been used by Dale Jarrett--Darrell Waltrip--Bobby Allison--Ricky Rudd and others!!!!!

Although I would have liked to see him in the #81, the #88 just feels right for him. I think once he gets a Hendrick car around him, he won't have the "bad luck"(read- 6 blown engines this year alone) that he has had in the past.

He is more than just another driver, he just hasn't the equipment to prove it. Now that he will be with a team that can give him the best equipment out there, he will stay at or near the top of the standings! I predict a Cup Championship either next year, or the year after, no later.

Yeah i know what you mean, seeing the #88 on the track you automatically associate it with Dale Jarret. I'm sure it won't take long for all the Nascar Fans to get use to Jr in the #88! We will see that car winning a lot next year!!!!

Go RCR!!!!

The 88 is a sign that there is a litle Jr in the future. One 8 has become two 8's. Now there's a thought for "THE TWILIGHT ZONE".

I'm really suprised that he will get that number. I was kinda hoping that I would see that number in victory lane again soon, but I guess not any time soon till JR lets it go.

88 will forever be Bobby Allison, NASCAR will retire that number this fall. RETIRE THE 88!

I'm happy for him!!!! Now maybe the media can leave him alone and let him race. That's all he really wants to do.

(With a heavy sigh) What difference does it make? It is just a car number. And Junior is just an average driver.
