good answer from dub07
chicken broth, hot water(leave for a few mins after boiling to slightly cool) add some honey and fresh squeezed lemon (this means you are not restricted to a minimum number of treatments that taking lemsip which contain paracetamol would mean)
drink plenty of water keep bedroom well ventilated
stay in bed for a few days and Bobs your uncle
get well soon
just getting over the cold myself

A midwife taught me this. I'm a bloke and she was right.

If the cold is not on your chest then go to Sainsburys/Asda/Tesco and buy a tube of 1000mg Vitamin C soluble tablets. Take one three times a day (that's 3000mgs of Vitamin C per day.) Your cold will be gone by the fourth day.

I kid you not - that lady is a genius.

Vitamin C, overdose yourself on it it will get rid of the cold quite quick. Remember vit c is water solouble so you wee it out so you need to keep on topping it up ... The best kind is effervescent (disolves in water) take about 10,000 mg per day it should make the cold go

Plenty of fluids, Tissues with Balm (don't by cheap ones, they scratch your nose to bits) and Paracetamol to help control your temperature and aches.

Don't mix paracetamol with lemsips or other 'cold remedies' in fact don't buy other cold remedies, as there is no such thing and they are mostly paracetamol anyway.

If you are a natural remedy type of person, I suggest Echinacea. You can get it in the form of tea, vitamins-pills, or drops. I would suggest Echinacea along with one of the many Tylenol Cold products.

Paracetamol, hot toddy (large), bed and sweat almost unbearably uncomfortably for the night and next day if need be. Hey presto!

Lots of fluid, plenty of rest and something to relieve your symptoms. If you aren't sure what to take, ask the pharmacist. If your symptoms aren't better within several days or they progressively worsen, see your doctor.
