It came up with P1148 and P1614. Also he said Either the gas cap wasnt on tight enought(it was because i left it open for 5 minutes then put it on like 3 full rotations) or something was lose. What would have made the Service engine soon light just come on? my car has 47,000 miles on it. thanks

P1148. Closed Loop Control (Bank 1).

P1614. Electronic Throttle System
Module Malfunction.

These are the definitions of the codes. They are Nissan specific.
The closed loop has to do with long term fuel trim (ltft) which is the computer regulating your fuel supply when you are driving on the highway.

The electronic throttle is related so the two together set the trouble codes. Nothing to do with the gas cap which is part of the evap system. Find a mechanic that can tell you what I just told you about your codes. If he doesn't know what the codes mesn go to another till you find one. STAY AWAY from dealers and NEVER replace any part till you know the oroblem.
Give the codes to a mechanic and don't fall for the I THINK it might be--- If he doesn't know what the codes are get out.

Wrong! Amateurs who do not have access to Nissan service manuals should not just guess Evap gross leak is code P1455 Ignore the NATS code P 1614 (chain Of Immu Key) unless you keep using a bad key and make the ignition immobilizer to lock down the car. Now there are four Engine Control Modules part numbers on 50 state SER sentras that can be reprogrammed for the code P 1148 (closed Loop bank#1) And the reprogramming and idle air volume relearn should be warranty up to 8 years 80,000 miles. However if your SER does not have the ECM part number you might be replacing other parts some warranty covered and some not.

Dude john paul is awesome!

Ya itll shut off in 15 miles! hahahahaha!!!! thats why techs have jobs!!!!fool!!!!! go back to the barn and fix the tractor...hacker!!!! Why do you give ppl false info? these ppl are looking for help, not to be lead in the wrong direction! under the right conditions, the sentra in question may never run an evap test ever again(like if the fuel temp is to low). if the dude lives in alaska and his his ambient temp is below the threshold for fuel to become volitle enuf to create evap system pressure. and besides thats not the issue anyway.

to the poster...listen to j.p. he actually knows what is wrong!

It mostlikey was the cap, that code is for "loss of fuel tank pressure" tighten the cap and the code will clear itself in about 15 miles
