It seems like whenever I finally get back into a routine of working out regularly, I get sick and it throws me completely off track, and then I stay off track. However, I have worked out before right before realizing I was coming down with something and then felt just horrible the next day. After workout soreness PLUS the soreness and body aches of illness, and so I avoid any kind of workout when I'm sick, but sometimes that's two weeks or more. Is there any benefit to working out when sick, or does it just set you back in illness recovery time and do nothing fitness wise?

I would talk to a doctor about that because it sounds like you have some sort of respiratory-circulatory issue that causes this illness of yours. Then after the doctor helps you will be able to workout with ease.
