Is it absolutely necessary to wear a suit with a jacket on an interview? If so, can the blouse be untucked and the jacket open? I can't stand the jacket. They are short and my stomach isn't flat. It makes me self-conscious and uncomfortable. Any ideas? Both would be neatly pressed. I am not a sloppy person.

I would dress according to how the job would require you to dress, so if you would wear a suit at work, then yes wear one to the interview.

Do you want the job or not?

You never dress for the job you are applying for, you dress for the job that is interviewing you. Suits are a must.

Wearing the shirt untucked is fine as long as it is not real long. Wear the jacket and don't button it.

Shine your shoes the night before, keep makeup to a minimum and if you must, keep the cologne light.

Take copies of your resumes, ask lots of questions during the interview (not at the end), get business cards from everyone you meet with and your last question should be, "what is the next step in your hiring process and when do you expect to make your decision?"

Send thank you notes and good luck.

I don't think that a suit is absolutely necessary for an interview. You have to make sure that you are comfortable. Wear something that is going to make you confident no matter what. I do believe that a first impression goes a long way. You want something to say that you are serious about the job but dint go overboard like you have never been to one before you know. I think a pair of slacks a short sleeve dressy top is fine. It would be nice to wear a simple necklace and heels. No open toe.

Unless you are going on an interview for a very fancy corporate type job, I do not feel this is a must. It is really important when you are in an interview that you are comfortable with what you are wearing. If you are not comfortable then you will not be able to present the best you have to offer of yourself to the interviewer. I interview potential employees for my company and confidence in yourself and your level of comfort are very important to me. If this is a corporation where you will need to dress nice, you can still pull it off without the jacket, if thats the big issue for you. If you absolutley feel there is no way that you can avoid the jacket, try purchasing one that is a size bigger or maybe one that is in a womans size instead of regular. Comfort is way more important than size, and if you use a nice silk scarf you can really dress it up. Good luck :o)

It depends upon the job. Many positions can be secured in a nice dress blouse and longer skirt or dress. However, you must wear a suit then if the blouse is supposed to be worn ttucked then it needs to be tucked. The jacket can open but I like them closed.

The best guideline I know of is to wear to the interview what you would wear to work if you get the job. That's usually a pretty safe bet.

Good luck!

No. I wore an turtleneck sweater and black dress pants with styling' dress boots on my interview to a corporate interview and I was just find......and got the job. As long as you look professional and kept, you'll be fine.
