My livingroom picture window has a wide wooden trim around it. I'm not trying to make an illusion of it being larger. I just want to place the rod correctly. Would I put the rod holders right on the frame? The two outside ones will be okay but the middle one could be difficult because of the design in the frame. I would appreciate any help you can provide. My husband will be home soon to do the job and I have to get him while he's in the mood!! Thanks!

Do not put the rod holders on the frame. It should go on the outside of the frame.

Placement of the rods is really about the look you are going for. For most of my windows, I place the rod directly above the woodwork but if you want a more dramatic affect and longer drapes, you can place the rod as high as your ceiling. Do not put the rods on the woodwork. If your three windows are different heights you may want to use the larger window height as your template and carry the rod all the way across evenly.

Ours is placed just outside the frame and up towards the crown moulding to make the windows seem higher.

Slightly above the frame is how all of mine are done and they were hung by interior designers.
