If it smells bad, "odd" don't eat it. Your better off going to the store to buy a new pack. It may have been spoiled before you cooked it, but after seasoning and cooking, it may not smell as bad, but rather "odd" Thow it out, don't risk food poisoning.

There two signs 1) the meat gets dry. 2) the meat gets greasily and you have the feeling there is a little bit of the white of an egg over it. But if you see it, it is too late!!!
Be careful !!! In Germany it is forbidden to sell ground meat that is older than one day and the butcher is not allowed to keep it over night. If your ground beef was older then 1 1/2 day throw it away.
Greetings from Hamburg, Germany

It will have a bad smell. You won't have to ask if you smell truely rotten meat. It smells like a dead animal. Very meaty is good!

Wow - if you didn't smell it prior to cooking, you have seasons, etc that might confuse your sense of smell.
I know when beef is bad because it has a 'rank' smell. You know meat has gone bad when its color turns from that healthy red color to that nasty gray-brown. Refrigerated meat usually begins to deteriorate after about two full days from purchase.(unless it is frozen)

If your meat stills smell you could dump it or just cook it for a little longer.

When in doubt - throw it out. A few dollars of meat isn't worth food poisoning.
Trust your gut and your nose.
