Adult criminal offenses stay on your record permanently. Juvenile Records are typically not part of the adult "rap sheet"... although they have become more so in recent years.

If you get the record expunged, it will still show up for certain types of background investigations.

I heard they last for seven years, i really don`t know for sure.I went and bouht a hand gun last month. Had to answer a bunch of questions ,one asked if i had any misdemeanors i said no. I had to wait ten days before i could get the gun. I said why wait they said we got to check you out with the state dept. When i was younger i got in trouble. I had two misdemeanors, i got the gun.
