Hi, my name is Phil.

Today, I am confined to the house due to a rather bad flu...

Oh well, its raining outside anyways.

So out of idle curiosity, I decide to go searching for things on Google.

Inspired by an answer on YA, I type in "Christian chat room"

Lo and behold, a bunch of "Christian singles" sites come up... Yeah, very few actual "Christian chat rooms" - its all about dating and such.

Personally, I was shocked at what I saw on there....

Christians: What is your opinion about "Christian dating sites" and online dating. Do you think that we're kicked down a notch when these sites are created?

I don't think it is the right way to go. I don't care how careful the site security may be, liars can get in and create chaos. Then, the liars use language not appropriate or ask inappropriate questions that can lead a non suspecting person into a trap of sin. Bad idea for a DATING Christian chat room.

Phil, hi, sorry you don't feel well. Anyway, I think it is sad, even though I have used sites myself, rationalizing by saying that I just don't go anywhere to meet people. Well, what a mistake. It was nothing but a mess. I now prefer to date only people I know, which may limit the choices, but then how many choices do I really need. I can only have one date at a time and I do have other things going on in my life so there you have it. Unfortunately life has gotten weird on us and this is just the evidence.

No i don't think we've been kicked down a notch -- we need to increase our christian methods .......I think that christians and churches need to stop thinking like the 50's are coming back--we as christians today need to think outside of the box.. if we don't...we are likely to not help bring those who are lost to the light of the Lord Jesus Christ.........Think about it....we're only 1 generation away from not having christians left in this world....therefore we need to expand our thinking of how to get others to receive Christ.

Well, I'm an old fashioned kind of guy....I still have LP's and a turntable and iPods are like little visitors from outer space...I'm confused by fax machines and the Internet as a whole.

I wonder what is wrong with church socials, sock-hops and meeting girls at the market in the produce aisle.

But hey....it's better than cruising bars, I guess.

Have never been to one, but from what I hear, they can be pretty raunchy. I don't think there is a law that says that everyone who goes there has to be a Christian. Just like anywhere else on the Internet, you have to take the good with the bad.

70% of the internet is porn and a large chunk of the rest is information and knowledge. These two combinations mean that the internet is no place for Christians. Hedonism, debauchery and sexual freedom represent everything that Christianity opposes. And knowledge is to Christians what Kryptonite is to Superman.

I think they are not all genuine. There is good and bad in everything, but
I wouldn't trust them. People lie.

I hope you feel better! Take care!
