To be in the Catholic Faith is to live the Catholic Faith. It's more than just membership in a Christian denomination, more than Sunday Masses, more than personal private prayer, more than Sacraments, more than theological belief - it's an entire lifestyle.
All these things, and more, mentioned above are important parts of this lifestyle. Jesus says His people (Christians) should be easily identifiable because of the lifestyle they lead.
Back in the middle ages, when a person was Baptized, they wore a white robe everywhere they went for a whole week. Peope would see this person wearing the robe and say, "There goes a newly Baptized Christian. Good for him/her." After a week, the robe comes off, and the Christian looks just like everyone else on the street. So how is this person supposed to stand out as the Christian he/she is? The answer is, by the lifestyle they lead as Christians.
This is the simplest "big picture" answer I can give you.

The word catholic means universal, which I take it to mean various things. First, Catholic teaching is designed for all. Truth is not some secret knowledge that only a few gnostics can know through initiation rites. So, the first thing the Catholic faith means is that the teachings of Jesus and his church can be accessed by all.
Second, it means that all have the possibility through grace to find salvation through the sacraments of the Church. Everyone is welcome (at least in theory, though not always in practice, which is the fault of the humans in charge, not the religion itself).
Finally, it does indeed mean adherence to the pope, who is seen primarily as the source of unity within the church. Peter and his successors are commanded by Jesus to feed his sheep and to strengthen the faith of the flock. That they fail to do so is, again, not the fault of the religion itself, but of the humans who fail to live by the ideal.
That's what it means to be in the Catholic faith, Charlie Brown.

It means you are not only an acquaintance of Jesus but, you are his very flesh and blood. The Catholic is his younger brother like St. John who will always be with him and he does not have to wait until the Resurrection as Jesus is alive and the Catholic consumes his living body and blood---the Catholic is alive and even though he appears dead after physical death ---the Catholic has just been changed and is alive in Christ with him in Heaven

I was once just an average Catholic until I decided to get deeper into my faith. The pagan influence charge is just a lot of BS. This is really the true church founded by Jesus Christ.

It means to accept the basic tenets of the Christian faith. It includes Catholics, Orthodox, and most mainstream Protestants.
Catholic means "universal". It was a reference to the whole of Christianity.

The Lord gives you all the tools to finish the race and it isn't easy. For those who have been given much, much will be required. To remain in a state of Grace requires heroic virtue especially in the time we live. Thank you Jesus for the Sacrament of Reconciliation

The work katholikos is taken from two Greek words: "Kath" = "according to" and "Holos" = "the whole".
Since the Creeds teach only "one, holy, catholic and Apostolic" Church...and by that definition, there is only ONE Church (all "denominations" are man-made and not of God).
"*One* Lord, *One* Faith, *One* Baptism; *One* God and Father of us All"....(St. Paul said that, not me: Ephesians 4:5)
Thereby...all Baptized Christians are a part of the Katholikos - the one and only Church, of which Jesus Christ is the head...and all Baptized persons are the members....
