It's more of an indication of a person's lack of character, lack of education, and simple-mindedness than anything else.
It's one thing to blurt out a single swear word if you smash your finger or something. This is not so bad.
But people who interject a 4-letter word into every other sentence, even while discussing normal things , sound like uneducated buffoons. It's almost certain that such a person is also using poor grammar and has a small vocabulary. I would not want to associate myself with such a person, or date such a person, or hire such a person.

There are two reasons swearing can be considered bad: religion, and culture.
religion: in the Bible, one of the Commandments is "Thou shalt not take the name of thy Lord in vain." So certain combinations of words or individual words can be considered swears if you are using them out of anger, fear, etc., instead of out of praise.
culture: some words have taken on particular meanings, or some slang has been made up to refer to things/people/parts of the human body in a derogatory sense, and are therefore offensive to other people.
I remember being told that people who swear must be very limited in vocabulary if they can't find other ways to express themselves. I personally find constant swearing very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Hope this helps!

In the sense that you mean it, the question is a tautology. Swearing entails its own "badness". The real question is why are certain words taboo? to which the only answer is that they embody unacceptable concepts, which leads to the further question, unacceptable to whom? The only possible answer being: To those that don't want to listen to an old potty-mouth.

Use of swear words shows lack of class and culture. In general there is no reason to use such terms. When you have good sense of self and breeding, there are other ways to express yourself without sounding like an idiot. Rise above, act like an adult, and speak with respect. You're the only one who looks like a fool for using such disrespectful language.

It's situational dependent. In most cases, it's bad to swear because it show disrespect to those you are near.
Many "swears" are considered blasphemous. That is, they are bad in a religious sense.
Hope this helps.

I wouldn't say that it's 'bad' to swear. Instead, swearing indicates a lack of vocabulary, which in turn, indicates a lack of education.

People use foul languages as fill in because during normal conversation they have difficulty finding proper words or expressions to communicate. A popular fill in used is the phrase "Know what I'm saying?" which is said repeatedly.

No reason, just our culture. There's lots of things that aren't bad but are perceived as such through the lens of our society.
Why is nudity "bad"?
Why is the use of certain recreational and psychedelic drugs "bad"?
