I use Ramadan to lose weight when I like to do, otherwise I stay at the same weight, but others when eat too much in Ramadan (specially fats) gain weight.

I gain weight =( because i'm so used to eating a certain amount of food, certain type, usually at a specific time the whole year. During Ramadan I usually eat a lot during iftaar-- because on normal days I usually divide my food into very small snacks or meals. My weight is good though alhumdullilah, im 5'9 so the weight never really shows lol

most of us will loose weight at the beginning and i am no exception. this is because the body will loose water faster when we stop drinking for a few hours and it will start to adjust according to our new eating pattern.

what is important is at the end of Ramadhan. Will we loose weight, stay stagnat or gain weight. This will depend on how we eat during iftar, in betweens and sahur. we are being adviced not to eat excessively during Ramadhan, be moderate and increase the sunnah and night prayers.
With that i believe at the end of Ramadhan all of us will not only loose weight but healthier.

I usually lose a little.

This is one of the benefits of fasting. I've read that normal, healthy people with normal appetites and activity levels gain about two pounds a year. If a person fasts during Ramadan and eats only iftar and suhoor (supper and breakfast), with maybe a light snack at bedtime, s/he will lose those two pounds, insha'Allah.

I'd love to say that I lose weight but I'm quite the opposite. I think I mainly put on weight because I usually don't eat carbs after 7pm, and during Ramadan I eat all my carbs after that time hehe!

Ramadan Mubarak!

During Ramadan, I PLAN to lose weight. It really depends on what you do.

You could lose weight by not eating too much during iftar because your stomach shrinks when you fast, but your metabolism also slows down. You can maintain your metabolism by doing light exersize right before iftar.

But you can also gain weight because you fast all day and eat all night. Your metabolism slows down, and you gain weight faster when you eat, then you sleep shortly afterward.

it depends, some people lose weight because they eat a light meal after they break their fast because they are used to not eating. some people gain weight because the spend all day and all night cooking before to eat before the sun rises and to eat after the sun sets. but then again, if you loose weight you can gain it all back after Ramadans over cuz you start eating at any time you want, and your metabolism has gotten low and make you gain weight even faster. but it doesnt matter, ramadans not about who loses or gains the most weight.
