i had a root canal on one my molar and after several months that teeth is broken. My question is: why? Is it because all the nerves cells are removed and there is nothing the feed the teeth?

Yes, your tooth is dead. In a root canal procedure, the pulp (nerve) of the tooth is removed, and the canals are cleaned out. A root canal 'filling' is then used to restore the canals, along with cotton and a temporary filling to close the access.

Ideally you should have had either a core or a post & core performed by your general dentist about 3 weeks after the root canal treatment was completed. Teeth become brittle after a root canal procedure, so the next step would be a crown.

Hopefully it isn't too late........and you'll be able to continue the reconstruction of the tooth instead of having it extracted.

Best of luck!

You are correct. The blood supply has been cut off when the root canal was done. Thus, the tooth dries out and becomes "brittle". Most dentists place a crown on the tooth after the root canal is completed to help keep the tooth from breaking. There are certain reasons- depending on your situation- when you may wait to do the crown. If your dentist is recommending a crown, get it done (assuming the tooth is not broken beyond repair). If your dentist is not recommending a crown or extraction, find a new dentist. Good luck.

Since the tooth is indeed more brittle once it is dead, usually a bicuspid or molar is crowned after a root canal. Hopefully, you can still have this broken tooth crowned and have it be useful for many years.

If you have cracked the tooth down into the roots, generally the tooth is lost.

No. It is because the tooth is fragile and the clumsy guy who did the root canal cracked it while fumbling around to yank out the nerve.

I had that happen to me and the tooth cracked while I was on vacation thousands of miles from home. I had to spend vacation time getting pain relief and then I needed to have the tooth pulled when I came home. Between those visits and the implant that was a lot of cost for going to an incompetent dentist.
