Agreed. Reason is limited by the human mind...faith taps into the part of us that can see beyond what we can perceive with our physical senses. Faith doesn't exclude reason, but reason tends to exclude faith...thus, I'd argue that faith is a more "open-minded" perspective.

Faith is also human. And faith can sometimes be a higher faculty than reason, but not always. Reason can help build faith. Since I am an atheist, naturally I wouldn't agree that faith is a gift from God, but an entirely human concept as well.

"Faith is a cop-out. It is intellectual bankruptcy. If the only way you can accept an assertion is by faith, then you are conceding that it can't be taken on its own merits." — Dan Barker.
"Truth does not demand belief. Scientists do not join hands every Sunday, singing, 'yes, gravity is real! I will have faith! I will be strong! I believe in my heart that what goes up, up, up must come down, down. down. Amen!' If they did, we would think they were pretty insecure about it." — Dan Barker (ex-preacher).
"Faith is a euphemism for prejudice and religion is a euphemism for superstition." — Paul Keller, American rationalist.
"Faith is to the human what sand is to the ostrich"
"The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason." — Ben Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanack, 1758.
"Faith is often the boast of the man who is too lazy to investigate." — F.M. Knowles.
"A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything." — Friedrich Nietzsche.
"If the lord had meant us to have faith, he'd have given us lobotomies." — Zlatko.

I don't think so. If your doctor tells you that he/she thinks you have cancer and only two months to live without presenting any evidence, would you believe it on faith or would you demand to see the evidence? Or how about if you go to a financial advisor and he/she tells you to invest everthing you have in a stock that he/she has a gut feeling about, would you do it? What, besides religion, do you believe in faith more than reason?

No because it means nothing.
Praise Lord High Boonah, he is all reason, and all faith, so has no battle between faith and reason.
He is an owl who lives in a tree, and he can fly.

I would say that it is. It is not a totally separate faculty, but superior. Just as reason is superior to our mere senses, but IS informed by our senses, even so faith is superior to our reason, but is informed by our reason.
