Specifically, what do they test for?? And I hear the urine samples are tested for certain drugs on a random basis, can anyone elaborate on that?

Does it matter? If you're worried about it showing up on a scan, you shouldn't be doing it.
If you're concerned about some medicine you're on showing up, don't be concerned about that either. The doctor giving the full medical exam you're given at the start of Basic will prescribe you medicine and whatever you're on will be on record.

They test for a variety of different chemicals and drugs (i.e marijuana, meth, etc). It is suposed to be random based on a program that pulls random social security numbers... however, I don't think its random I've had 4 in the past year and a half, 2 since I've been pregnant! Commanders can order drug tests for certain individuals if they suspect something. Just because someone fails a drug test does not necessarily mean there in trouble, they usually get retested to make sure it was correct the first time.

I take random drug times at least 3 times a year. I know they test for marijuana, crack, cocaine, and other recreational drugs but I'm certain they test for steroids. Drug test are on a random basis but it is almost certain you will have one before a mission or the first 3 months of a year. They usually have random member s of a unit do one then the whole unit.

Not sure what they test for but I know plenty have been busted for weed. Yes they do random testing all the time. I spent 6 months at AIT and every month about 30 to 40 people got tested. Some say it goes based on your social security number however I think the commanders pick and chose at random.

They test for a variety of things. They also change what they test for. They also test for chemicals to hide drug activity. If a commander suspects something, like they find a laundry list on someone, or a stash, they can test for a specific thing as well.

They are checking for drugs like MJ, cocaine and the like. If your number is called you have to do a piss test that morning.
