Bread and salad is great, but I'd get a bottle of GOOD Chianti as well.

same theme -- different ingredients

spaghetti topped with shredded zucchini - cut the zucchini lenthwise into small spaghetti sized strips and steam them for about a minute.

pan fry some minced garlic in olive oil (about 1/8 cup per serving -- 1/2 cup if you are cooking a whole box) and let it sit for about 20 mins. toss your cooked spaghetti in the oil. spread some zucchini over the top of the spaghetti and top with fresh basil confetti.

for a salad just a simple salad of tomato wedges in balsamic on a bed of curly endive or escarole topped with some parsley and more basil --

for bread get a big round loaf and pass it around to break off chunks.

very simple basic and good with a cheap bardolino or lambrusco.

Try these:

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Tie the dough into 12 knots and place them onto a cookie sheet. Brush the knots with the egg, and sprinkle the rosemary and garlic onto the knots. Bake the knots according to the package directions.

I prepared this meal for my family last night............. As always, I cook a meat sauce & serve with angel hair pasta, along with garlic bread( I make my own), and a good cold, crisp green salad, loaded with lots of fresh veggies!! Oh, and I always have a side-dish of genuine dill pickle spears on the table for everyone to grab and eat right along with this meal. This is an absolute favorite of ours.

spaghetti noodles?? or spaghetti with a sauce??

spaghetti prepared with sauce...
i would have to say meatballs or chicken parmigiana.

if it's just spaghetti noodles no sauce then then there is no limit. i would make a garlic butter sauce and toss it together and serve chicken parmigiana on the side.

you can't have spaghetti without garlic bread so stick with that lol!!
garden salad with mozzarella balls, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and croutons. italian dressing with romano cheese.

for dessert i would have grilled fruit with ricotta cheese drizzled with honey.

You can put almost anything you like in the sauce:
sausage, meatballs, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, onion, etc.
You can also serve whole meats alongside:
chops, sausages, shrimps, chicken leg or breast, etc.
