In many countries we know what the words Father and Son mean. As God said He was the creator of the universe, males also create human life. So, He uses the imaginary of Him as a heavenly Father because He has created all life as we know it.

Because a bunch of men said so. Seems they need to have their egos stroked as often as possible. It's a control thing. Not all men believe that the only god is male (or in any god at all), but it started off with a bunch of men cutting the Goddess out of spirituality. Interesting isn't it?
Genderless my derrière! That's why the Bible always says "HE" and "In HIS image". Someone's had a bit too much Kool-Aid!

Cause men have ruled for the past zillion years and women were always second class citizens. God, the almightly, couldn't have been a second class citizen.
Ohh it's kinda funny thought because god supposedly created life, yet women are the ones who give birth..weird

God is spirit -
John 4: 24
King James Bible
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Neither do the angels have gender and there is no marriage in heaven.

God is not male of female, He is God. That is a totally different being. Not everything has gender. Ever heard of a male rock.

first of, in response to mystine G- that's just stupid. maybe it's all the "He" and "Him" in the Bible.
and to respond to you....I don't know. I think people assume God is male because the Bible says He created man in his own image, and his first creation was man, and woman created from a rib of man.
Anyway, I don't think God has a gender, nor is it all that importnat.

well God is said to be a male only because he is supposed to be like a father to his children....but in the bible it doesn't say that he is any gender. hes just there. but i personally like the description of him as a father than a mother because to me a father is more protective in a way because they are men you know people say that men are stronger....etc. not saying that mother are stupid or anything i love my mom. but a father figure to me is like more authorities, protective, strong...get the picture!!! =)

God is neither male nor female. He created gender as a way for His children to procreate.
