There are a lot of good comebacks to an obnoxious boss.

Find one or more that work(s) for you.

Here are a few examples:

"You're fired!" (Don't actually say this to the person in question just yet, first, just go to Human Resources or someone that you trust in senior management, and talk to someone about the situation. If they really are that obnoxious, you're probably not the first employee to make a complaint. Talk to other co-workers, that you trust, about it - commiseration can sometimes be the key. Transfer to another department - nothing says "I don't like you" like moving away. Or, find a better job, and then you can actually tell the person, "You're fired!").

Silence. Think about it. Is it really worth it to waste your time saying anything to this jerk? (think about some of the funny things you could say, like some of the zingers offered here already, but don't actually say anything to the jerk, unless you know for a fact the jerk won't or doesn't have the guts to fire you or become even more obnoxious) This will keep you smiling, on the inside at least, and feeling better while you plan your course of action.

"Get out!!!!" Sometimes you can say this (or any one of an infinite number of variations) to the jerk in the normal course of conversation. Just whatever he or she says, exclaim, "Get out!!!!" The jerk has no way of knowing that you really want them to get out, because you're just saying it like you kiddingly don't believe whatever they're telling you. Sometimes they'll even "get it" and take the hint that they're bothering you. It's just a funny way of releasing your pent up frustrations about the jerk who just happens to be your boss. But seriously, if you're in a situation where can't go to someone to talk about it, for whatever reason (because it's just you and your boss at this job or you can't trust your back-stabbing co-workers, etc...) you may have to confront this jerk. They may know that they are a jerk and they just figure they have to be a jerk in order to be a boss and not be walked all over by their staff. At some point, you can both reach an understanding, and then go from there.

Good luck, I hope there's something here you can use.

Um, why would you poke a rabid dog with a stick? Are you looking to get bit?

I would just do my job and go home when the day ends. And if I were unhappy I would look for another job when I am off. Trust me, even though you want to make snarky remarks to this man, he is still your boss and being fired doesn't look good on a resume.

I think I would be looking for another job. What is the sense in working for someone who is obnoxious. Life is short.

what seems to drive people the most crazy.. just give the guy a really weird look and shake your head like you think he is a dumb *** , than turn your head a way and act like you just dident even care about what the guy said and continue to do what your doing, dont say any thing.. and hell probably get worse for a min cus it will drive him crazy he is not getting to you. and eventually hell give up. well thats the way it usually works for most people that are trying to get under your skin..

How about I'm reporting you to Human Resources and pressing charges of harassment?

Nothing. If they are obnoxious enough to insult, they are callous enough to fire

TRUST ME ON THIS ONE, IT AINT ALWAYS EASY, THE BEST WAY IS TO FOCUS ON WHAT YOU DO BEST, AND NOT LET THE BOSS GET THE BEST OF YOU, BEING THE BETTER PERSON, AND NOT REVEALING YOUR ANGER OR EMOTIONS WILL MAKE YOU THE SCORE KEEPER AND NOT THE GOALIE.
