side effects ?? what, apart from u smelling of garlic for the next week ?!? lol. well, i know that it would upset my stomach if i were to eat that much garlic, but perhaps your stomach is stronger than mine ? garlic can help with things like colds / flu, but more as a prevention rather than a cure.... this is what one website had to say about it :

Garlic: Allicin, found in crushed garlic, has great cold-fighting properties. It's best to take garlic, either fresh or in pill form, when you first start to feel a cold come on since garlic works well to prevent a cold but won't cure one

hope this helps. if u want something that helps u get over your flu, drink lots of hot drinks, and take some vitamin C supplements. hope u feel better soon. x

DON'T!! Yes garlic has healing properties but not when used in such large amounts. If you eat too much of it, it will not only make your breath smell but it can leach through the pores in your skin for quite a while afterwards. Not good for anyone no matter how ill they are.
Vitamin C tablets or Echinacea supplements are supposed to be quite good for staving off the cold but I'm afraid the flu is a hardy little bug**r and will only leave your system when it gets bored! Indiscriminate wee sods :) Take care sweetie and I hope you feel better soon,xx.

Be careful!!! Garlic is known to thin out your blood, large intakes of fresh garlic is not recommended, because you can get low blood pressure, 10 million times worse than your common flu. Try taking a garlic suppliment inestead. Do not exceed dosage.

No but a Hot Toddy will. Ingredients are: Small glass of Lemonade, 2 teaspoons of honey, a measure of Brandy or whiskey, 2 teaspoons of sugar if you have a sweet tooth. Put the mixture in a microwave and heat for 30 seconds. Give a good stir and enjoy. This may make you sweat but this is the idea to burn out of the system......
Another if you have a severe sore throat and cold is a measure of brandy and a measure of peppermint cordial.

Garlic helps with blood circulation, not the immune system.

A cold is a virus and has to run it's course (about 7 days). Drinking fresh orange juice by the gallon will help your immune system (vitamin C).

Jury is out on this one, but at least you wont give your cold to anyone else as no-one will want to get near you if you eat that much garlic!!!

it can be very hard on the stomach so be careful. if you want to get the benefits of fresh garlic remember when crushing it you need to leave it for 15 minutes before you eat it, for the allicin to be of any benefit and you can't cook it.

Lets hope that everyone else has flu, so their noses will be so blocked up that they won't be able to smell your garlic breath.
