just say you have food poisoning or
morning sickness... it can last all day..
or
your pet is very sick and needs urgent vet treatment
your house has flooded and you need to stay home to sort it out. ( i like this one)
you have been broken into..
your front window has been smashed and you cant leave the house until the glazer get to fix it ( this is also a good one)

Bad stomache - then you dont have to go into detail (if somone does probe, mention sitting on toilet with a bucket in lap)!
I used it last Monday, so I have to go to work tomorrow!!
