Go to the web site for The Stuttering Foundation of America at www.stutteringhelp.org. They have a list of speech therapists who specialize in treating stuttering under "referrals." They also have a great book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" in their estore - that book helped my family members who used to stutter. You could also sign up for the pagoclone trial at http://www.indevus.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=45

My father had a horrible stuttering problem when he was in grade school through middle school. He's told me it took him 5 minutes to say the Pledge of Allegiance. He said what worked best for him was to work with a speech therapist. He says he's almost 100% better than he used to be. He still stutters, but it's only once in a great while, and generally it is so mild that you don't even notice.

Good luck to you!!

Speech therapy helps people on a many levels. I've been to speech therapy for many years as a kid and it helped quite a bit. For my reason, was hearing, but does affect a person's ability to have clear speech. You may not be able to stop the problem 100%, but you will discover new ways to help control your speech patterns!

Also, I have a friend that stutters more when he's nervous. When he is on stage for a play or singing, you can't tell he stutters.

Go to a "Speech Therapist"

The singing is supposed to work.

Try speaking just a little higher or lower in pitch
as you speak, sort of like singing, but just a very little.
In other words, change the pitch as you speak. Don't
speak in a drone.

Maybe?
