It's called "illegal immigration"...people who cross the borders illegally...there is also the need to protect this country from terrorism. Please note I am not speaking of just the southern borders, but the northern border as well.

We don't want to close the border with Mexico, but to secure it with a fence, increased numbers of Border Patrol agents, and by using the National Guard. We are being invaded by over a million people a year through our southern border and this invasion and colonization is supported by the government of Mexico. As Presidente Calderon said, "Whereever there is a Mexican, you have Mexico"

If that doesn't sound like an invasion, then nothing does.

The US isn't trying to close the border, they're trying to control it. At the very least, they're trying to exert some measure of control over it. If they were trying to close it, they'd cut off legal as well as illegal immigration from Mexico and Latin America, but you'll note no one is talking about that in the US government. Since Mexico is one of the largest sources of legal immigration into the US, that should tell you something about what is really happening here. No country has open borders, certainly not Mexico. It's control over its southern borders makes our measures look very enlightened indeed.

there are a lot of reasons
After the 9/11 attack, goverment did a full investigation on it. the investigation also covered people living in the usa who could be a threat to the country, and so, because the USA doesnt know who the undocumented people are (if they r terrorists, or really, just people living there to earn a living) they targeted them, just 2 b safe
also, according 2 the american people, illegals are taking ALL th jobs (when they are really only taking the dirty jobs that nobody wanted to do), and by closing the door to all immigrants, they can secure jobs
Its a "solution" to economic problems, and security problems....not that it actually is ;)

Because, between health care, social services, police and court costs, school costs and what ever else, it's costing us like 100
billion dollars or more for the entire country when it's all totaled up. Is that enough of a reason?, not to mention the security situation and the drug activity.

It is time that the US tend to it's own "back Yard" so to speak.

It is time that we spend money on our own citizens and our own cities rather than shelling out billions to other countries.

It is Wal-marts responsibility to make sue K-mart has money to keep going? No! they when is the Americas responsibility to make sure these other contries have funds? Most of the money goes to dirty politicians anyway.

The borders should be closed, and marines, Army, Navy, Coast Gaurd and Border Patrol should be posted every 100 yards along the border with standing orders to shoot any person trying to enter this country ILLEGALLY.

The following 10 facts have been pulled from the LA Times.

1. L.A. County has 10 million people. 40% of all workers in L.A. County are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants, working without a green card.

2. Of the 10 million people in L.A. County, 5.1 million people speak English. 3.9 million Speak only Spanish.

3. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

4. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

5. Over two-thirds of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

6. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

7. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

8. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

9. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

10. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish language only

Why should I have to tell my South American Friend he wasted his time and money coming here legally? Why is it he had to pay through the nose, and spend a great deal of time to become a legal resident yet someone from just south of us sneaks in?

So I should be racist, and say because you aren't Mexican, you get screwed on immegration? I'm sorry, I'm not a racist, so I'm not going to make special exceptions for one nationality and screw everyone else.

Frankly, it's because there are too many people in the US now which damages quality of life. Everywhere you look there are housing developments. The country needs wild lands too.
