No, the Pope is not trying to force the Tridentine Mass on anyone. What he has done is to allow priests to celebrate the Tridentine Mass at the request of the parishoners without having to get permission from the bishop.
The Novus Ordo Mass said in the common language will still be the predominate Mass celebrated.

I think the Tridentine Mass is beautiful. Why would any Catholic object to it?
As he was very influential in Vatican II, I doubt that Pope Benedict XVI would try to push things back.
Yes, the Pope is conservative, possibly more conservative than John Paul II. However, I am sure Benedict is expressing views that his predecessor also held, but John Paul II for political reasons, never explicitly stated them.

It isn't a matter of trying to 'push things back' as muchas it is trying to move things back to where they belong.
First, understand the letter on the Latin Mass. If you have not read it, you can find a link to it on the EWTN home page, under "Motu Propio." Top right corner.
Essentially, the Pope is clarifying that the Latin Mass was NEVER meant to be eliminated! He is making it easier for the Latin Mass to be celebrated, removing some of the restrictions that had been on place.
Important to note is that even if a parish DOES offer the Latin Mass, they can only offer it ONCE each Sunday and Holy Day...and that is only if they have a priest who is qualified to offer the Mass in Latin AND there is a group of the faithful who request it.
As to "conservative"....if you mean making the Church more CATHOLIC again, PRAISE GOD. There is so much liturgical abuse going on that the average Catholic is completely unaware of because of a lack of proper catechesis....well, it's really sad.
I leapt for JOY when Pope Benedict was elected. He doesn't stand for disobedience.

no.
As with any Rite in the Catholic Church, as long as they are obedient to the authority over them, (bishops, Holy See, and the Pope) then there is no problem. I trust God to guide and protect his church in spite of two thousand years of people trying to destroy it, both externally and internally.
