Yep, it's all a matter of perspective.

Certainly codifying it is all about point of view. Personally, I do believe that some things are truly evil. Torturing someone because you enjoy causing pain I consider evil. But there's not a lot I can offer objectively to prove that. I think what Hitler did was also evil. As you point out, however, he would disagree. I happen to believe he's wrong on the matter.

But there's lots of other things that I believe are neither good nor evil. Killing, for example. Killing a human for pleasure and killing an animal for food are totally different scenarios. And even though I consider stealing to be definitely wrong, I generally don't consider it evil.

What is evil to society can and most often is looked upon as good to the one that is doing it.
There is good and evil, which are not relative to the view of a person. But they are a standard that all things should be measure by. We might not agree with the standard, as we might be on the side of the scale that isn't favored. But without having good and evil standards then society would be crazy.
As what would it be like if none of us needed to have driving lessons, traffic laws or even traffic lights. All heck would break loose on the roads, and it would be like taking your life in your hands if you needed something as simple as a loaf of bread.
Hitler, was a murderer, and a bigot. He wasn't doing good for all, but for what he thought was deserving of help and support. And thousands were murdered because of his ideas and thoughts. What is viewed as "good" to a individual might not be for the greater good of all. And will be in fact "evil' In deeds.

We have only one example that we can go by. That is the example of the golden rule.
Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. There is no better basis for moral judgement.
Many things done by rulers are a mixture of things that are very good and very bad. If you look with this in mind, you will answer your own question and see both good and bad on both sides.
Then it becomes a process of weighing all the results of both sides to determine which side you best fit on. Then the idea of marching good people into ovens becomes visible as the abomination that it truly is. We fought and died to put a stop to this practice.

Of course actions will appear different from different perspectives. That is not the issue. The question we should ask is "is there a perspective that is right?" Were Hitler's actions wrong despite the way they looked to him? That is the question. Is there are way things really are, or is morality just an illusion? If you want to believe it's an illusion be sure to understand the ramifications of that choice.

Hitler was a man who hated who he was.
He hated people of the Jewish religion, and homosexuals etc.
When you read about his up bringing, his mother was of Jewish decent and he dabbled in homosexuality...
So, he really just took his self hatred out on society at first by mezmerizing them with his great oratorical skills..
and then as soon as they were hyptnotized he slaughtered the masses...
But really every time he slaughtered someone it was just a surigate for him wanting to commit suicide.
But thats just my opinion.

yes and no. I think culture plays a part on what good or evil is, like one culture may think killing a cat or dog is 'ok' but in my culture it may not be, other times it can be common sense, mom told us NO, or it can also be something that we read in the Bible.
