2 slices white sandwich bread
1 small ripe banana, mashed with a fork (about 1/4 cup)
2 tablespoons butter

Spread peanut butter evenly on 1 slice of bread, then spread mashed banana on other slice, leaving a 1/4-inch border around edge. Close sandwich, gently pressing bread slices together.

There are a couple of ways to make a great peanut butter and banana sandwich. Neither one is difficult. You can mash the banana with the peanut butter and spread it on the bread or you can spread the peanut butter on the bread and add sliced bananas. Some people like to butter the outside of the sandwich and then grill it until golden. Others like to melt the butter in a hot frying pan then grill the sandwich. Both ways are good.

Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup crunchy peanut butter
3 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 to 3 ripe bananas
8 slices white bread
Topping:
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
In a frying pan, melt 3 tablespoons of the butter.
Make sure butter does not burn. In a small bowl mix together the peanut butter, honey, and cinnamon.
Slice the bananas into 1/4-inch thick slices.
Spread the peanut butter mixture on 4 slices of bread and cover with banana slices.
Top with the remaining 4 slices of bread.
Spread the remaining butter on both sides of the sandwiches.
Grill the sandwiches in the frying pan until each side is golden brown.
For topping, combine the sugar and cinnamon in shallow plate.
Coat the grilled sandwiches with the mixture.
Cut diagonally and serve hot.
Elvis Presley's Grilled Peanut Butter
and Banana Sandwich
2 slices of white bread
2 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter
1 small ripe banana mashed
2 tablespoons butter
Spread the peanut butter on one slice of bread and the mashed banana on the other. Press the slices gently together. Melt the butter (or to be truly Elvis-like, melt bacon fat!), over low heat in a small frying pan. Place the sandwich in the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides. Eat it with a glass of buttermilk.
Please note: Elvis tended to eat 12-15 sandwiches a sitting! So belly up!
hope these help. enjoy.

This was Elvis' favourite!
You need fairly firm bread that won't fall apart.
Spread peanut butter on one side,
slice a banana on top of that.
You can put butter or jelly on the other slice.
Put the two sides together firmly.
Dip in a batter of egg, milk, & a little flour.
Fry in butter or oil on a griddle, until golden.

You do it the same as you would grilled cheese. I like to sprinkle cinnamon sugar on mine before i put them on the griller though. I also have heard that you can dip them into a sweetened egg wash, similar to French toast. That is one I have to try before I give you the 'star' rating on it though. It works for Monte Cristoes, it should work for This.
