Shocked to hear that he died. Thats my second rally hero to have died because of a chopper crash. Bertie Fisher (Multiple Irish Rally champion) was the other in very similar circumstances. He was using the same model Helicoptor and his son, who was on course to be a future World champion, was also with him along with two other people.
Why do people use helicoptors? They are such a dangerous way of traveling...David Richards was Colins team boss when he won the championship in 95 and his helicoptor also crashed TODAY with him and his wife on board. It could have been one of the most tragic coincidences imaginable.
RIP Colin. You were without doubt the driver with the biggest balls behind the steering wheel ive ever seen. Never afraid to push that bit harder.

I just heard them talking about this during the race. I'm so sorry for the families of those who lost there life in this crash. I will say a prayer for them all. Thank you for caring.

I believe Mr. McRae was a retired (?) Rally champion. That was a terrible thing. Thank you all for your kind thoughts.

I did not know who he was and looked it up. Yes his son died in that accident. A very handsome young boy. He and his family and friends has my prayers and sympathy.
