Do you mean that they had a 'light' emanating from them according to Matthew 5:14? Because I don't see that it says that.
If I had to show someone how to 'Worship is Spirit' like what Jesus told the woman about at the well in John 4, I would say that it begins how it continues, with trust in God through Christ. Salvation came from him, and the life of peace continues while we are in the trust of Him.
We pick a promise from God and hang our body on it, and that's how we live in His grace, His will, and it's because His life is in us urging us into action according to His will. Some of those things may be called 'worship' in the sense that we are 'shipping worth' to Him.

Bottom line: Sometimes. all you can depend on is yourself, your spirit. If you need others to show you how to accept God into your life, you are not worshiping in spirit, you are worshiping through others, a false God. Find God in your heart and worship him in your spirit, your way. The rest will come simply.

The apostle Paul said that in our flesh dwells no good thing;
7th chapter of Romans. He says that after the inward man
we delight in God's law but after the outward, flesh man,
we are sold under sin. But he gives hope in Romans 7:24-25, "O wretched man that I AM! who shall deliver me from
the BODY of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ
our Lord. So then with the mind I MYSELF serve the law of God;but with the FLESH the law of sin".
Our inward/spiritual man worships God in Spirit and in
truth while at the same time, our outward/flesh man is a
sinner & contrary to God; but Jesus overcame our sins for us!!!

You can teach a man how to do anything, but you can not teach him how to believe. Every man must teach himself how to do that. Faith can be showed, explained, talked about, and recorded, but it can not be created in the mind of those that believe by any other means but pure devotion and obediance to God.
God's will to man is freedom, and man's free will shall never be extinguished. Jesus guides his disciples to him, but he can never do it for them, that is their own task they must accomplish.
Self sufficiency means just that, being able to accomplish something on your own. Truth and liberation is the ultimate goal of all humans, and so if they can not do it by themselves, they are ultimately not self-sufficient.
The followers of truth wish only to emulate the supreme Godhead: to be completely self sufficient and established off of their own inward spiritual powers. This can never be done unwillingly, it can never be forced upon a human, and one can only help a human so far before they must do it on their own.

Actually it's one of the things that are not black and white. If a person cannot follow their heart into this realm of praising and worshipping in the spirit.........well they aren't walking by faith but by their own carnal mind. Let's see it's like having faith of a child.....in peter pan the fantasy is they could fly.......only in this case you believe and you can fly into the spirit realm and worship in spirit and in truth. The only thing you have to lose is your pride. :) small price to pay :)

Sweet Pea I believe true worship is not taught, it is given truly by The Holy Spirit. No one man can teach you this but The Holy Spirit that is given my God will teach you all things. God Bless!

you forgot the truth part. We worship in Spirit and in Truth. He meant that when he died it would bring about salvation, which makes us spiritually alive again like God originally created us. So thus you have worship with spirit, and worship with the truth of the Gospel
