I've been playing guitar since I was 11 and I'm now 57. I'm self taught. Get yourself a book of chords, and learn 2 or 3 to start (A D E ) are good. Learn one ata time, When u can paly them practise changing between them. There's plenty of stuff around with 2 or 3 chords. "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands uses D an A. "Drunken Sailor" uses Em and D.
Early rock 'n' roll uses A D and E. Chuck Berry's Johnny B Goode, Elvis' Hound Dog or Blue Suede shoes. Buddy holly's Heart Beat or Peggy Sue. Hope this helps, and if you would like to get in touch, I'll give you whatever help I can.
you have to be aware though that you cannot have long, pretty nails on your left hand, and it will hurt a lot at first.

If you don't have time to drive to a lesson, then do you have time to practice?
