How can I record a at 1am without turning my tv on or pressing record? what can I do?

I don't have a box thingy that sat on top of my tv anymore, and I think that's how I did this before. I have a panasonic tv and ao far I can only program my tv to come on, not record without me pressing the button at the exact time.

In order to record you need a recorder; such as VCR, DVR, PVR, etc.
Whatever you use to record, must have a menu called "schedule recording" or something similar.

Navigate the schedule recording menu and schedule your recording. Usually you define the channel, the time, and how long to record. The TV does not have to be on to record (unless the recorder is part of the TV)
