That has absolutely nothing to do with god... although the church SAYS it has to do with god. As in most things... they lie. The reality is that the celibacy policy was instituted in the early days of the church because the church did not want any of the wealth that might be accumulated by clerics during their lifetime to be passed on to family... they wanted all such wealth to accrue to the benefit of the church. In other words... greed... and the power that great wealth conveys.

Also... I've heard that "Be fruitful and multiply" REALLY means that one should embrace homosexuality and learn to do mathematics. Well... I'm OK with the math part...

That was a blessing not a command.

If you say that it is a bad thing that priests and nuns remain celibate, then you must also be against barren women and impotent men too. Are you? If not, why not? They can't reproduce like God said either. Should they be condemned under your interpretation of God's blessing?

Just wondering....

Paul said that if one could be celebate while serving the Lord then that is the preferred lifestyle. However, if one is not capable of this then one should marry. He then defines marriage as having one male and one female and being a contract for life.

In the case of nuns there is also an additional historical fact. The early nuns were the old widows and women who could not marry (physical defects, rape victims, etc.). They worked for the church in return for food and shelter. After many generations it became vogue for wealthy parents to send young girls to a convent until they were old enough to wed. This was to ensure their honor. Some of those girls chose to remain in God's service for life.

They "choose" to be celibate.
In their "teaching." they are going forth, and "multiply people"
