Someone told me it was the 23 what do you think the best glock that they make in 40 cal. is? And whats the recoil like? i see people shooting and the gun almost flys out their hand what does it mean? too much recoil for them? or what could someone do so the recoil doesn't go really uncontrolable?.also has anyone tried the new springfield version of the 1911? it's not the actual thing it's like a modern 1911 with all the great features if you have tried it whats your opinion?.

All of the 40 cal Glocks are the same just some are bigger than others. If you have a 40 cal magazine it will work in all of them.Recoil isnt too bad.I have a Glock 21 wich is 45 and it kicks alittle compared to a 40 cal.If you are worried about recoil get a 23c it has a ported barrel to cut down on recoil. The 23 I shot was a regular one and like I said the recoil wasnt bad so the 23c would even have less recoil. My father has a Glock 33 wich is a compact 357 sig the recoil on that is nasty it kicks more than my 45.

Best Glock 40

There is no "best". It sounds to me like you might benefit from some instruction, using a small caliber and work up as your skill imporves. Recoil is relative. The largest 40 will shock you if you aren't used to shooting. It's no problem if you have learned proper technique, practice, etc. Remember a compensated barrel is alot louder, you might want to try both before choosing. Then it's a matter of what suits your needs. If concealed carry is one then go for the small one and accept the fact it's a bit tougher to shoot well, ( they are all capable of great groups.)..the smaller the gun, the more skill you need to shoot it well. If you are referring to the XD my personal preference is the Glock even thought I love the XD. I found the XD much easier to shoot well because of how it fits my hand, weight, balance....but I've had too many issues with the finish on the XD's wearing off very quickly and not real happy with Springfields responses including a mag problem....so I switched to Glocks. I had to work harder to master them....technique is critical...but they are almost indestructable. The "tennifer" finish goes deeper than surface and a scratch won't rust in comparrison, and it's harder to scratch...not to mention the parts that are hard to keep dry, etc. Customer Service is great. I'm sure some will yell and complain but that's my experience with 3 XD's. The full size Glock seems to conceal a bit better...and they do shoot much better than I can. Suffice to say I'd be called a lier if I told the group size....but it does take work....and a ton of shooting, dry firing after learning the right technique. Good luck, I just didn't want you to jump into something prematurely...and decide you hate it and can't shoot it....and loose you to the sport...not realizing what you are missing.

I think you are talking about the Springfield XD. It has the grip safety like a 1911 but is actually more like a Glock. I actually like the XDs better than Glock. Easier to field strip (Both are easy, XD I think is easier). The XD has three more safeties than Glocks. Striker indicator letting you know the gun is ready to fire, Load indicator showing a live round in the chamber, and the grip safety. Of course both have the USA Trigger safety. Both are reliable, and will last a long time. I just like the feel (heavier gun so less recoil over GLocks), looks, safety, and options the XD has in colors. The sights are better too.

I own a Glock model 22 in .40 s&w and love it. The round is VERY snappy and comes off target easy but is widely used and very popular. I think the .40 S&W is a good defensive bullet and personally love glocks in general so yes awesome choice and match. For an even better "manstopper" the 10mm is essentially a magnum version of the .40 s&w. The 10mm has huge recoil though which in my opinion just makes it more fun (I seem to be a minority though). 10mm ammo is also more expensive. Hope this helps.

The .40 cal Glock 23 is a very good ccw weapon, the determining factor in man stopping is shot placement. Hits between the shirt pockets have a tendency to stop aggressors.
