Maybe I'm just different, but I was never that worried about having a boyfriend at school. There were quite a few guys who liked me, and yes I kissed a few boys at parties, but I never got upset over them. I did very well at school and I also did lots of sport, drama and music. That was more important than a serious relationship and I don't regret a second of it. Now I'm 24 with a really good job, and very much into guys!!!!! Just wondering what other's thoughts were on this. It upsets me that kids are growing up too fast.

I'm from England and when I say school I mean up to the age of 16.

I appreciate that hormones are all over the place at that age and it's a natural thing...but when you're spending hours on the phone to a guy one day and sobbing your heart out the next I just think it's a waste of energy. I have a 14 year old little sister who is anorexic due to a stupid boy dumping her.

Yes i totally agree, I'm 29 now and in a serious relationship but when i was younger the last thing i wanted or needed was a serious boyfriend i preferred the company of my friends, some kids are growing up too fast, i still feel so young and i love that i do, by the time they are 30 they will be bitter and jaded through bad relationships all because they were not ready for them.

yeah I am 21 and I just recently got a girlfriend. And its serious...like future planning serious. Anyway, yeah I just was always chasing after girls/flirting with them until now. I'm buckling down and becoming serious. I couldn't imagine having a relationship at a younger age than I am now...even though I am still young. But, I'm a 110% kind of person and a relationship is reaaaaaaaly serious to me and I give a ton of effort into it. That is why I finally feel responsible and mature enough to be able to bare the responsibilities of a relationship. At 16? who am I kidding?

Getting pregnant, your name on a council list and living off the government is turning into a career option for some girls these days. I never really understood it myself either. There were girls in my school leaving at 13, 14, 15 due to being pregnant and I see them occassionally and they now have 2, 3 more kids, majority of them to different fathers.

Cant really answer your question other than the fact that children dont like to be children anymore they expect to be treated like adults as soon as they turn 13, although most of them dont want to act like it!

To many kids don't have enough to keep their minds active, so their hormones take over. Most kids of today don't have work to do when they get home, they have a small amount of school work , then they are free to run. Parents don't have the kids around, because they don't want to be bothered, they want to forget their responsibility of raising their kids, not knowing that kids have to be taught how to handle the adult world, and get very little guidance from parents.

It upsets me too. I mean high school it's okay. They are usually 14 yr olds -18 yr olds. But middle schoolers who are 11 yr olds - 13 yr olds or even younger? It's pretty scary. I'm glad I never had relationships when I was that young. They don't know what they're doing which results from lack of experience, maturity, and all other factors!

because when a kid sees a couple walking through the crowd holding hands it makes them think "hey i want that" also the fact that so many movies always have girls crying over guys all the time doesn't help. it's just natural. some girls might think that having a guy will make their life perfect because friends and family isn't enough. everyone is different.

well ime 13 ... and ill tell you about the answer to your main question
I worry about relationships because I want to get to the right start of my proper life outside school. I do concertrate at school and do take breaks from thinking bout my boyfriend. I dont want to be a loner and just really want to hit it of really good out of school life. I dont like being alone sometimes so you may gather I am a girl who wants to be successful and never alone
But my brother who is 10 is WAY to worried about girls more than what little boys like doing and i agree we are growing up too fast but being a child nowadays is dangerous and need to know dangers quickly as there are more dangers than ever from the past.

I think it may be becuase of culture. I mean thinking about it, movies, music books and more tell teens that they NEED a boyfriend, in high school. Also dating and having a steady relationship is a stepping stone into adulthood and gives you the perseption of being more mature
