Yes! Especially when the days are overcast, it can be depressing. I don't mind the rain, but just solid overcast depresses me. The rain cleans the air and gives it that fresh smell. The days are shorter also. There's not as much time to get things done before it gets dark.

Sunshine does cheers you up. It's a proven fact that in the Seattle, WA area, there are more suicides than any other state due to the continual rain and overcast skies.

You are not alone in this one.

The reduction of exposure to sunlight, in UK, results in a fall in serotonin levels, which is a mood elevator. Thus some people feel low in winter. if the condition is severe enough to produce actual depression, it is known as SAD = seasonal affective disorder. it sometimes responds well to management with specialist SAD light lamps.

yep its called SAD. sesonal affective disorder

i have moved to the Uk from a sunny country and find that even a cloudy day can make me miz. so i think this winter (considering the shite summer or rather the total lack of summer) will be particularly bad

it has to do with not getting enough vitD and other stuff from natural day light that boots our mood and regulates our internal body clocks.

plus they like to do all that daylight saving stuff, it doesnt really help either

Yes, especially if you live in more northern climates.

There is less light available during the winter. The cold keeps you indoors with less variety in your activity.
That lowers your good hormones and you tend to feel more blue.

Mine does. You probably have seasonal affective disorder (SAD) which can be alleviated a little by going for early morning walks in the sunshine and keeping regular sleeping/waking hours as part of good sleep hygiene.

Mine's already dropped with the shorter days, and it's not even Autumn yet! I think the fact that overall, our Summer has been quite a poor one hasn't helped.
