The mold problem must be addressed or it will persist. Mold spores which can be dangerous to ones health, and lower the value of ones home so a solution is imperative.

There must be a moisture source so it must be eliminated or dealt with. One way to deal with moistue is to waterproof it sealing out moisture for good. Top Secret Coating's has a good waterproof paint that adhere's to almost anything; TS-100 1 Part Epoxy.

Begin by cleaning the wall(s) with a solution of half bleach and water. Allow to dry throughly before moving forward with paint! Scrape off any loose scale then simply brush, roll or sprat the epoxy direct to the dry wall board. The epoxy will seal out the moisture once and for all. The epoxy is high gloss which is probably not the desired appearance so once the epoxy has cured you can overcoat it with an interior wall paint to acheive the look you desire.

Top Secret Coatings has more than 180 products available in their online store. You can find them on the web. Good luck with the folks and the project. I hope this information helped.

well first of all as an iicrc certified tech and mold remediator , bleach will do nothing for you but make it look good for a couple days ..... it does not help it does not kill it does absolutely nothing but stink ......lol.... what ya need to do for one is cut up the wall abit and see just how bad it really is hopefully hasnt wicked up a long ways and then more than likely in need of some professional remediation ..... however cut a line above where abouts the mold is as you see it and check and see if the majority of it is below your line or it may go be higher on the wall board , if it is ?.... cut another foot or two up on the wall board until you no longer see it ....
get yer self a hepa vac available all over and vaccuum with a bursh all the exposed wood in and around the wall ...... go to your local home depot or lowes or whatever you have close to you ...... get a bottle of consumer available microban or very similar fungicide spray the area affected down with the substance and then seal in the affected area after drying with kilz then replace the wallbaord accordingly....
however ...... there is a reason for the mold to be there in the first place your going to want to figure out what has caused this and fix accordingly other wise youll be repeating this step often

If it is true mold it is very toxic, it can kill, you may want to call a professional.

Mold can be removed with a 50/50 of a bleach and water solution, I'm not sure how to get it out from between the paint and the wall, short of scraping the paint off.
After removing the mold, to keep mold at bay mix a paste of baking soda and water and wipe down the area, baking soda will keep it down to about 6 to 8 months depending on the moisture level.

Scrape the bubbly part. Has the leak been taken care of? Is the area dry. If so apply a coat of Kilz primer to kill the mold, let dry and then repaint.
