Do you really believe that they do that, or do you think that you are aggravated and pestered by the feeling that you get when you hear that if you don't repent of sin and believe God for forgiveness for your sin that you will perish?

There are many million Christians in the US and in the world, and by the law of averages, a certain percentage of them (especially these God hates Fags groups) are bound to be complete idiots, wacko's and psychos.
Please don't judge all Christians by these few loudmouthed weirdos. We're not all like that.
PS: If I was at the funeral of anybody I knew and those people showed up I would be happy to put aside my pacifist beliefs for just a few moments.

Why does any extremist do that? Non-Christians and political agenda driven people do the same thing. Why is your question only focused on one group?

The answer is, they have an agenda, just like any extremist or political group does. They uses their right to freedom of speech like anyone else. If they cross the line, they get arrested, just like anyone else who crosses the line.

For the same reason radical Muslims and radical people of any sort do it, the cannot stand people different than they are. They cannot deal with a diverse world and seem to make the world something they can relate to by making everyone the same.
I also think there is a bit of bid for attention there too.

Candles, as long as SOME folks feel that they have a "God Appointed Duty" to impose their narrowly viewed concepts of morality upon the REST of Humanity they will continue to do so. As for WHY? Because they CAN. No one is telling them that they do NOT have that right, therefore they willl do whatever they wish until they are told by someone in authority to STOP.

They believe they are giving you the cure for eternal torment. In a sense, there's is simply an innocent yet twisted form of care. Take it as such and give them something in return that might help them wake up.

"Christians" in name and mislead Christians do mistreat non-believers out of hatred or intolerance.

True followers of Christ do preach the Gospel out of love. We don't want non-believers to burn in Hell forever. We would rather that they hate us now but hear the Word so that they at least have a chance to be saved from the everlasting fires of Hell. True followers want ALL people to go to Heaven with them forever.

because they do not understand the scripture that said the opposition would be here!
2 Peter 3:1 Beloved ones, this is now the second letter I am writing YOU, in which, as in my first one, I am arousing YOUR clear thinking faculties by way of a reminder, 2 that YOU should remember the sayings previously spoken by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through YOUR apostles. 3 For YOU know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4 and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.”

Even though it doesn't make sense to nonchristians, the do it because they think it's the right thing to do out of love for trying to get other people saved. They think the God they serve will be happy for them standing up for the rights of unborn babies too.

My theory is that they feel that it is their religious OBLIGATION to persecute the rest of us until we convert to THEIR brand of Christianity so that they will SHUT UP!!!!

(That is of course if they believe that we are even ABLE to be redeemed. Some of the most extreme, like the Westboro "Baptists" only seem to want to condemn everyone else to justify their beliefs.....)
