Here come the Mormon haters!

Sure, go and check it out. Preferably ask a Mormon friend if you can go with him or her.

Mormons welcome everyone to worship with them and even have some classes that cater to those that don't know as much.

A few pointers that will make you more comfortable:

-Dress nice (tie or dress)
-Don't take the sacrament when it comes around (not that anyone will condemn you, but it's not appropriate)
-If you go alone, ask someone for some help getting you to the right place. People go to different classes at different times. Tell someone it's your first time at a Mormon church and have them help you get to the best place for you.
-Most chapels have a library. If you want, they can let you borrow a Bible and or Book of Mormon for the meetings so you can follow along as they read scriptures. Again, ask and someone will help you find it.

Lastly, pay attention to the feelings in your heart as you're there.

Yes, go

"I would never go to a Mormon church. They have very strange beliefs and are actually a cult. It really irritates them to hear this, but sometimes the truth hurts" -They've never stepped foot in a Mormon church but seem to know everything about it.??

I enjoy going to the Mormon services. I think you'll find them the same wherever you go. I think everyone would enjoy them so that's why I recommend.

I am not a member of the LDS church, but my husband's family is. I've gone to church there many time, and it's actually a nice church.

There's no harm in just attending a church service and seeing how you feel about it. If you don't like it then you don't have to go back, and if you do like it then you can talk to other members, and find out more about the church.

It's not a matter of whether you should go, it's a matter of would you like to go to a Mormon church?

I do!! I love it there. The people are nice and the spirit is so strong. My neighbor had her mother-in-law visiting this summer. She is from Mexico and does not speak a word of English. She went every week for 2 months because she said, "It feels good and I like the music." Now that is a testimony! GOOD LUCK!

I'm not a Mormon, but if it appeals to you I don't really see much reason not to if you're a basically conservative person.

If you want to know about it for yourself, check it out. Listening to what others say and hearing their opinions (mine included) can help to a degree, but you yourself can find answers if you yourself seek and learn. Go ahead, give it a try.

I would never go to a Mormon church. They have very strange beliefs and are actually a cult. It really irritates them to hear this, but sometimes the truth hurts. Their religion is based upon the supposed discovery of Joseph Smith in New York of some "golden plates" that he claimed were from God. Joseph Smith was a ne'r-do-well, who spent much of his time treasure seeking. Joseph, then hung up a curtain in a room and supposedly translated these golden plates, all the while keeping the curtain up, so no one could see the plates. How surprising that the plates somehow later just disappeared.

The result, was the book of Mormon. It was all about how a tribe of people in the United States, of which there is no other book that says they existed and how Jesus supposedly was over here on North America. Joseph as a boy enjoyed entertaining his family with stories of Indians and tribes of people.

The Mormons deny the deity of Jesus Christ. They believe everyone is a really old soul, and you have to have lots of babies, because otherwise there are too many souls in heaven and not enough bodies on earth for the souls to live in. They believe that you have to earn your way to heaven, and there are three different levels of heavens, and only Mormons who obey all the Mormon laws can get to the highest level. They even have special Mormon underwear that good Mormons are supposed to wear. They get annoyed when you call them Mormons, they like to go by LDS, for Latter Days Saints, of course who ever heard of the LDS choir. They don't make much sense.

They believe men can become gods, and that god was once a man and had a wife. They marry and baptize dead people which is why they are so big on geneology. Of course the Bible says dead people aren't married and you are not to baptize dead people.

They are a very controlling church. They think newlyweds should save up so much of their money and stockpile all sorts of food and survival gear for disasters. They are big on young men devoting two years on missions. They have lots of money because most of their leaders are unpaid, but don't expect to know how much or what they do with it. About twenty old guys in Utah have most of the power.

They think the book of Mormon overrides the Bible as well as the Mormon Pearl of Great Price, and some other Mormon books.

I would recommend going to a good Christian (non-Mormon, obviously) Bible believing church.

If you are interseted then you should go one sunday and decide for yourself how it makes you feel. If you like it then keep going and just see how you feel. I would find some missionaries in your area and go with them, so you don't have to go alone. Good luck in your investigation.
