us for having rockets and space stations? After all, they are far higher than the Tower of Babel.

The universe that god created as described in Genesis consisted of a flat earth with a crystalline dome over it (the sky)... with a few thousand tiny little lights on it, and two big lights. Heaven... where god lived... was on the other side of the sky.

Genesis does not describe the universe as it IS... it describes the universe as they THOUGHT it is. That is why stories like the Tower of Babel and Jesus ascending up to heaven USED TO make sense... or at least were BELIEVEABLE... because they THOUGHT that god was right up there, over their heads... on the other side of the sky.

The fact that this 'god' apparently agreed with this mythical arrangement of the cosmos, and got honked off because the Tower of Babel might permit men to intrude upon his heavenly domain OUGHT TO tell us that god is mythical, too. One would THINK that such a powerful almighty god would at least have some slight CLUE as to what the universe that he had created ACTUALLY looked like.... but, apparently... he didn't.

What has happened SINCE biblical times is that as actual knowledge has replaced these delusional 'beliefs'... the ILLUSION of knowledge... religious puppet-masters have waved their magic wands and changed their stories... and things that USED to be believed as inviolable divine 'TRUTH" have been magically transformed into allegories and metaphors... but NOT before they tried to stave off these changes to dogma for a few hundred years, by torturing dissenters and boiling them in oil, or burning them at the stake. Heresy!

Christians are fond of saying that "The bible never changes." LOL. Maybe so... but what they say it MEANS has changed... over and over and over and over...

P.S.: For those who have given answers saying that god was NOT concerned about them actually reaching heaven... HOGWASH. That is but one more example of what I have said about the religious puppet-masters changing the MEANING of the words...

Genesis 11:6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now NOTHING WILL BE RESTRAINED FROM THEM, WHICH THEY HAVE IMAGINED TO DO... i.e., building a tower and gaining access to heaven, among other things.

Once we learned that the sky was NOT a crystalline dome, and that heaven was NOT on the other side of the sky, the ACTUAL meaning of the verse became... well... let's say 'inconvenient'... for them. They cannot change the words... too late for that... but they CAN change what they say the words MEAN. And of course you people who think that the bible means exactly what it says are OBVIOUSLY deluded, and OBVIOUSLY misinterpreting it... because you are not possessed of the 'Secret Magic Decoder Ring'... er... oops... scratch that... ahhhh... I mean you are not possessed of 'Holy Spirit'.

This story may be very intriguing considering that it relies on what the tower was getting used for. Due to the fact it was constructed in Babylon, it is suspected that the devil could have planted some variety of weapon or situation there. Remember that there are angels throughout us, although they're hidden. People must now not conspire with satan or handle him to develop their power, stature, wealth or role, nor work to enslave others with the aid of towering over them. Breaking down their verbal exchange is one technique to disrupt their vigor chain. Many matters factor to the wisdom of God which he convinces us about approaches of dealing with matters. In the course of WWII Apache Indians had been used as Code Talkers to expand the effectiveness of Allied messages and preclude interception. A just right safety is more often than not a good deliberate offense.

G-d knew the Tower of Babel would not reach heaven. He punished man for being so impudent as to think he COULD reach heaven on a tower.

Nah. What you have to realize (and it was something I failed to grasp for a long time) is that the Tower of Babel was the first in a long line of Zigurats. These were towers constructed for pagan god worship and astrology type worship. They wanted to be closer to the stars so they could worship the stars. NASA and such just wants to learn about the universe and not worship it.

They were not punished for building a big tower, they were punished for pride and disobedience. God had commanded them to spread out and populate the world, yet instead they stayed to build a city. They grew prideful because of what they had accomplised. They decided to build the tower to heaven as their crowning achievement. This tower represented them ascending to heaven and in a way becoming their own gods. That is why they were punished.

No, the real reason for the confusing of the languages is that these men were saying, 'let us build a tower, to make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered over the surface of the earth'.
God's stated purpose for the earth at Genesis, is to have men become many and fill the earth, these people, led by Nimrod, were directly defiant of God's purpose, so God confused the languages and they dispersed across the earth.

I don't think so. The motivation is different. Those who built the tower of Babel did so out of arrogance. While the space program may be largely the same, it isn't arrogance toward God that fuels it.

God didn't think that the tower would reach into heaven, he knew that man would conspire against him, no matter what the situation and he separated them so that they wouldn't be able to get so far into iniquity again that God would have to end the world right then, to where the world is fast approaching right now.

Its not about height.
They built the tower of babel because they had heard about the flood from their grandparents.
They were thinking ....let's build a tower so that if god ever makes it rain again, at least some of us can go in (and up) the tower and not be drowned.
It was a question of rebellion against God's ways.
So today, its not about height. Its about rebellion against God's ways.
