I have a liberty, which is a capable little off roader, with a torquey little 3.7L engine, but its rubbish. endless recalls, worn out leather on the steering wheel, interior that stains when rain hits it, back hatch that sticks closed, wobly windows...i bought this pile new, and i will NEVER buy an american car, let alone a jeep again.

Oh i forgot the transmission which has lots of 'play' and slams and clunks into gear, and axles that seem to have way to much backlash, and clunk into forward or reverse., and other things like interior trim that comes loose, but hey who's keeping track

Terry H, what a jackass you have proven yourself to be....what sort of maintenance do you have to do to a steering wheel, windows and interior...no wonder this car is such junk, a genius like you put it together...if you could read, you would see that the one bright spot the car has is the engine

AGAIN, my point is the hondas go to the dlr for maintenance...the jeep goes to get things fixed that should have been okay from the jump....i know it can be 'fixed' if something goes wrong, and i take it to the dealer....BUT THE POINT YOU MISS IS THAT MY HONDAS ONLY WENT TO THE DLR FOR MAINTENANCE!!!!!! NOT TO REPLACE STEERING WHEELS OR FOR RECALLS, OR BECAUSE THE DAMN DOORS GET STUCK!!!!! Why bother? I can buy a honda and just drive it.

Yeah, ive heard the liberty's have had quite a few problems, i personally love jeeps, but what they're making these days are hardly Jeeps, i own 3, a 1991 Cherokee, a 1998 grand Cherokee 5.9 limited(awesome) and a 1999 grand Cherokee base model. I can understand your frustration but some jeeps are still okay, like the SRT8, but for reliability there much better prior to 2000, Ive got well over 135k miles on all of mine and no problems.

Another owner who doesn't perform maintaince and then complains.I have had a lot of Jeeps go over 100,000 miles with no problems.Almost all the companies have recalls, even Toyota and Honda.I never heard of the steering wheels wearing out, what do you mean wobly window?Sounds like your swing gate striker needs to be adjusted. All these things you are complaining about can be fixed for free if it has the warranty,so why not get them fixed? Thanks for the name calling it shows your maturity,I got to report it.Please don't buy another American car, people like you don't know how to maintain them.Oh,did you see all the Honda's being recalled, please keep sending that money overseas.Oh,can't you read,I don't work on the Liberty line I work on the Wrangler line.THANKS

My mother in law has a Liberty and right now I know of one recall and it was taken care of. I know she had some issue's with her Air conditioning recently. I noticed her center console door was broken not sure how that happened. She was talking about trading it in, but she loves it and is keeping.
I am on my first Jeep. I got a Patriot and love it. I'm ready to go out and get a Jeep Wrangler which is what I and my husband have wanted. Me personally I am bought on the Jeep product.
Sounds like maybe you got the lemon in the bunch. What year is yours?
I think with every vehicle there is a love hate relationship with something. You either love the product or you hate the product.

I love my jeep, and your arguments are completely devoid of merit.
I know quite a few liberty owners and they all love them, The are great. I would buy one if I didnt love my Cherokee so much, its absolutely awesome.
Just look up the amount of recalls for jap cars and youll see what I mean.
My best friend has a 2006 accord and it has problems up the ***, including bad bearings, interior plastic that is already flaking, and such.
I will never buy a jap car, I have never ever seen one that didnt have some random expensive problem.

Currently own three jeeps and in past two more. Now two of current jeeps have over 220,000 miles.
You want to support a foreign government and economy? That is your right, but do not complain about your job, retirement, government services, national debt, unemployment security and more. YOU are part of the problem, not the car.
Oh, yes,,drive that Japanese Rice rocket out in front of my Suburban in an intersection and we will see who survives. My son survived a head on collision with a brick wall in a Cherokee and no air bags, try that in a Honda!

I love my 99 Wrangler. I will NEVER get rid of it and hope to be buried in it!!
It is the best.. most reliable vehicle I have ever owned and I beat the crap out of it. I have been wheeling it for about 6 years.
It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.
I often refer to it as "The Little TJ that Could!"

sorry to hear about your concerns. yes i do dislike the seat/rain thing, my neon does that too. i think you are being a bit overcritical though. i can only think of 2 recalls right now that are on libertys.
to me it sounds like about 15 minutes of TLC and attention and most of your concerns would be handled. recalls were BS in my opinion, blower motor and possibly lower ball joints. wheel could be replaced under warranty (we never have a prob with them?). back hatch needs lubed. window runs need a little silicone in them.
sorry to hear about never buying american again. i am a dodge/chrysler/jeep employee in the service dept no less. i love my 3 dodges and 1 chevy. i am one of the few that ONLY buy american as a sense of loyalty, even when i buy parts for my "toy" car...american made or no dice.
take a trip to the service dept, have your concerns addressed, and please dont blame it all on "junky american cars". american quality is real...

I'm sure someone has but then again I'm sure you could say that for every vehicle make out there. You say you've never had problem with Hondas but my girlfriend's Accord has been nothing but trouble.
Every car maker has trouble with their vehicles. That's just the way it is.

i am not a Jeep fan, my mother and my brother LOVE them. my mom has a liberty which i have to say has treated her very well for a few years now, no major problems. don't know if it depends on the year or what. but for me, i would never get a jeep, or very unlikely, and i generally prefer imports over american cars anyway. i own three cars and none of them are american and all three run like a dream. (one german, two japanese).

no, actually my jeep is very reliable. you probably got a lemon thats why. happens with every car brand. i had a honda civic that was a lemon. i received one as a gift 5 years after n it was reliable. so i would tell you that you shuld give american cars another chance (maybe not jeep but the other ones)
