If it's a stranger and you have no relationship with the person, then you have no legal obligation, only a moral one (unless, of course, you're an EMT on duty, a policeman, or some such).

Depends. Some states have Good Samaritan Laws protecting bystanders who help and some do not. Therefore you can not be legally expected to render aid. But you may be held liable given circumstances for doing nothing. If they are conscious and refuse help you have a witness you can't get involved. Unconscious you can help regardless. Calling 911 is the humane thing to do no matter what. Check with your local Red Cross for specifics. Thank you.

Hi,

You are moral bound to call any help, even if it a local near by doctor.

That life could have been saved? May be the person would have been treated fast and lived.

Th guilt you live with is terrible and you will have to live with it till you leave this world.

You can be charged for neglect if you ahppen to knwo the person well and did nothing in your power to help out.

ummm what kind of dying are we talking? someone lying on the sidewalk dying or a family member in their bedroom at home dying? i think there is a difference in circumstance. i think it is perfectly ok if a person dies of natural causes in their house and an ambulance is not called. it is something else entirely if there has been an accident and an ambulance is not called.

It's not illegal, but you could be charged with murder if you walk away and the person dies, then you would be guilty. If they can't find you ur not in trouble....

I would say call the ambulence. It's not against the law, but you can still get in trouble for it

I believe it depends on what the person wants, if they refuse help then it falls on them. What condition is the person in, can they talk, etc, etc. My ex-best Friend watched her husband die from cirrhosis of the liver and never called 911 until the day he started having blackout seizures, he died that day. When I seen him in the ER, I personally was horrified that she let him get that bad without any medical attention..

Legally you are not bound to act. That stated, morally you should act. What if that was your parent or child laying on the street. Would you want a stranger to call for assistance? Make the call............

It's your duty as a citizen to adhere a need in emergency when needed.
Put yourself in that position if your going to die and someone walks by and says good luck and keeps walking.

Depends, there are 'Good Samaritan laws' that may apply in this case. If they apply and you did nothing you could be charged.
