Why would you take a Bible?
Liturgical denominations go to church to pray and sing hymns, not to study the Bible. Many churches son't even have sermons.

Web,
The Churches that I have attended in the present and past have all provided Song Books to allow us to have the lyrics and music so that we are able to sing with others at the appropriate time(s). We are told in the Bible to "SING" and we do. We also pray but a prayer book has never been written by or as inspiration from our FATHER so we do not include that in our services. The Bible is always brought by me but we also have a number of them available for use by those attending the services. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

You can definitely see where they place emphasis in. Certainly not on spiritual food. You will starve. Jesus ordered his true organization to keep his people well fed and not just on milk but the meat of God's Word.
How can anyone be sure of the teachings of a church without seeing it from the Bible? 1John 4:1 tells us to TEST whether the teachings are originating from God. We have the delightful example of the Beroeans in Acts 17:11, who "received the word with greatest eagerness of mind, CAREFULLY examining the scriptures to see if these things were so." They had Paul and Silas there, telling them these things, but they checked anyway!
The plain fact is, these places do not want you to know. The less you know about the Bible, the better for them. You will accept virtually anything they cough up as gospel. That is how all the weirdness gets started you hear on the news about churches.

We dont bring song books to church and my church doesnt use formal prayer books. Pretty much everyone comes to church with their Bible though as we are encouraged to find and read Scriptures for ourselves, rather than just listening to the preacher.
God bless

Most people in my church bring Bibles, and the songs are displayed on an overhead projector so we don't need books for that.

I don't take a songbook--there are songbooks at the church building. I don't take a prayer book--we don't use prayer books. We do pray. I do take a Bible because our preacher encourages us to look up every scripture that he quotes to make sure that what he is telling us is correct.
