It must be clear to EVERY Christian that it's not important what Protestants think, or Catholics think, but what God thinks. What God thinks is in the Bible. The one who started Christianity is Jesus of Nazareth, and this is what He said:

" For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. "
(John 3:17,18)

So whatever label we call ourselves, it's God's label that really matters.

Just reporting, you decide.

Jesus said that he will be the judge on who goes to heaven and who dose not. And that will not be done until he returns. So neither Catholics or Protestants are in heaven yet. It also says for us 'not to judge or we will be judged'. It also says the path to heaven is slim and the road to hell is wide, so most from either will possibly in up in hell. That even some church leaders Jesus will even say he dose not know, because they did not do as he told them to. For we have to read the Bible (over and over), pray though the day, and do the other things that we are required to do too; like helping others....

Who was foolish enough to say that Protestants are going to heaven and that Catholics were not? I need the chapter and verse for that. Jesus said that those who repented of their sins and called upon His name would enter into heaven. My Catholic friends tell me that Jesus died for their sins and that they have repented -- so who has the right to decide who and who won't get in. I thought that was God's job. -- a devoted God loving protestant

I think your question is based on a mistaken notion that only Christians will enter Heaven and that only some Catholics are Christians. God created all people and all Catholics are Christians.

This statement is based upon???
Anyone that receives Christ as their Lord and Saviour is going to be in heaven with him..
Assuming that ALL Protestants are going to heaven is not correct.. A lot of people go to church because it is a nice place to go and nice people there. That will not save you!

some protestants are not going to heaven either, so it will even out.

You make me wonder if they all go to the same heaven. Is there separation in heaven between different christian sects or will they stop quarreling all by themselves?

In both Protestant and Catholic assemblies there are people who are not at this time on their way to Heaven. It doesn't have anything to do with their level of love for God, it has to do with people who have made a mere profession of faith but who have not been born again by the regeneration and indwelling of the Spirit of God.

John 3:3 Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Romans 8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Matthew 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' 23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'
